Guess what Bednar? People are hungry in the United States too. Check out this public radio story about American Indians in Minnesota.

http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2011/10/03/traditional-foods-hunger-white-earth-reservation/

Wheat is not helping them. But doesn't the Book of Mormon claim that wheat was brought to America? Isn't wheat a Mormon food storage item? The reality is that government commoditity wheat and sugar are harmful to the health of these American Indians. What are they doing for themselves? They are growing their own traditional foods, growing plants that are not mentioned in the Book of Mormon at all. They are bartering among themselves to help those who cannot grow.

Here is a final thought on Mormonism with this story. There are two temples in that region, one in St. Paul, Minnesota; the other in Bismark, North Dakota. Neither dedication mentioned children of Lehi, Lamanites, nothing. For Mormons, the Lamanites have been disappearing from talks, writings and temple dedicatory prayers, but the real people that Mormons used to call Lamanites are still in America. And in the United States many go hungry. When they take actions on their own to improve their situation there are no LDS stories to recognize them. Meanwhile, Bednar talks about hungry families in Africa.
