You're reading it backwards. According to the map, Utah ranks sixth in "peacefulness" (NONviolence). California ranks 33rd. (n/t)

All I could read was the scale on the left with the lighter areas labeled "high". I couldn't enlarge things enough to read the data on the right.

Mormons far and away prefer white collar crime. That way they don't violate their dress code. (n/t)

They also have a tendency to let the church/bishop handle major issues or just keep it to themselves for fear of being "less than perfect". UT is sure a lot more depressing than CA, suicides, prozac,...
