My friend, well, husband's childhood friend, who knows full well my views of the church and my past, has apparently got himself an appointment with the mishies tomorrow at 2pm.

I think he well and truly means to bait them and is using the fact that I "come from there", because he asked me for some good stumpers.

How to stump the mishies? Sounds like fun to a 41 year old single dude, I guess.

So I have been out for 16 years, left at 17, only discovered RfM in 2006 I think... I'm still not well versed on good conundrums that I could lay out specifically, I left because it felt wrong, the people sucked, and I hated what they wanted from me. :D Some exmo! I sure do appreciate that it is full of valid suckage and not just my icky feelings.

Help me put together some good things to ask the kids, please?

The whole "milk before meat" thing contrasts with Jesus's simple message, and I can back that up with scripture(I got no reference, and never took notes, but I've seen someone use a verse describing the simplicity of the gospel.)

I should do a better job of saving useful links!

BoA, of course. For a quick debunking, this page looks nice and is shorter than that video: http://www.mormonismdisproved.org/book_abraham.html

And when the mishies say he just needs to read the BoM, everything he needs to know is in there, then he should bring up temples and baptism for the dead, etc.

And the good old, polygamy is still on the books, D&C 132. I got that one memorized! :D

Got any other good ones I can use?

Thank you for the genuine response. Planting seeds is important. If it doesn't FEEL icky enough to make someone want out, maybe a little information will grow a pearl of dissatisfaction.

Why play this silly & pointless game?
Nothing tolerable on TV?
No cards in the house?
Can't find the Monopoly box?
No friends to hang out with?
No movie playing anywhere nearby?
No tooth that needs pulling?

Absolutely nothing better to do than play Let's Play Missionary Badminton?

I'll never understand the attraction.

Thanks for taking over the thread, pointless dork.
You're as useful as snoozyQ.

Just little boys that have been manipulated into doing what they are doing. Most likely would just like to go home and be real boys.

Tell him to watch porn with them. They'll cut the BS and maybe have a memorable afternoon.

From where I sit, it appears that those who play with missionaries either love to argue or enjoy doing the exact same thing to them that they attempt to do to us, which is force feed opinions back & forth.

I consider the first a waste of time, and I don't see much point in trying to beat them out of their beliefs while they're trying to beat me into them.
Nor do I care if they accept my own beliefs.

Should I run into a Flat Earther, I'm not going to bother trying to show him the "light".
JW comes to the door, I have infinitely better things to do than argue theology.
When my brother-in-law begins to spout what I consider idiotic statements supporting his political beliefs, it just ain't worth trying to show him where he's wrong.

Vacuum salesman comes to the door, I'm not going to argue the relative merits of his product compared to one I already have, nor will I haul out Consumer Reports & debate features & recommendations.
"Not interested, thanks", door gets closed.

Neighbor tells me his Ford truck's better than my Chebby truck, I couldn't care less about his truck beliefs & won't waste either of our time trying to persuade him to join the ranks of Chebby truck owners.

This'll probably draw fire, but if you don't want contact with the church, why prolong it when it intrudes on you?

Just "No thanks, guys", and the door gets shut.
No fuss, no muss, better things to do.

They can "feel" an obligation to convert me all they want to, I feel no obligation whatever to de-convert them.

Leave me alone, elders, I'll leave you alone.

In what way does this tirade of yours differ? And whatever your answer is, that's the attraction you claim you don't understand ;)

Not a tirade at all.
Opinions are regularly expressed here, you've seen mine.

You want to play the Missionary Game, it's your time.
I just see no sense in it.

I would direct all my questions to helping the boyz/girls to see the light, like planting some seeds.

"Joseph Smith? But I read he had 33 wives. Is that true? [or whatever he had]

"But their DNA has been found to NOT be of Jewish ancestry?"

Poor guys. Go easy on 'em. Just tell him to get the wheels turning and perhaps we will see them on this board soon!

Yeah. It can't be easy to keep the blunders on in the information age.
Too bad family search isn't quite as open to the public as it used to be.
