I've been elders quorum president, Sunday School president, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Young Men president, ward executive secretary, and assistant to the high priests group leader.
EQ President Stake Mission President Gospel Doctrine Instructor Scoutmaster Ward Financial Clerk Bishop's Executive Secretary YM President Bishop High Counselor High Priest Group Leader Music Chairman
I can't remember them all. I think I was in charge of something at the Bishop's Storehouse too, but I can't remember.
WOW Ron.Bishop?? Had you already started to question when you were bishop? Did you love the calling? Hate it? Were you a by the book bishop? Sorry-I just think that is amazing that a grand bishop is now an exmo!! I'm sure you have shared things here, but it must have been before my time. I really like hearing former bishops,G.D. teachers, high councel members, RS prez. etc. that leave the morg. Sometimes I still feel it's just lowlifes like me that "loose" their testimony. Although I was Primary Prez.twice, served in many Pri. presidencies,YW Preidencies,Stake Pri. Prez. I mostly taught Primary though, and that felt like a lowly position some of the time.
Deacons quorum pres(made sure everyone had ties) teachers quorum pres(made sure everyone washed their hands) Priests quorum pres(made sure everyone had enough vodka and OJ, to make the stake dances somewhat enjoyable).
Didn't make it past that, so I guess I wasn't all that valiant in the pre-existence....However, I am white and delightsome!
I've had a lot of callings, but I was the membership clerk when I left. I got to try to track down the inactives and find out if they still lived in our ward. (Hooray for me.) Unfortunately, I never got to process a resignation. I didn't hear of that happening even once while I was the membership clerk.
One time I was asked to take notes in a ward disciplinary hearing (court of love). That was the most disgusting and self-righteous thing I was ever a part of.
Teachers quorum advisor EQ secretary SS president SS teacher, teenagers YM secretary Scouting advancement chairman, which I actually enjoyed because my duties in that capacity didn't involve camping.
This is too funny! I always heard that Ward Clerk, and Scoutmaster where the callings where Testimonkeys came to die! They are both poping up a lot right now.
My "calling" as scoutmaster was self-induced. I asked the Bishop for that calling so I could get out of being HP Group Leader. I always thought the Nursery was the place they sent poor, uneducated, going-nowhere members.
In order: Missionary EQ 1st C Sunday School Teacher 13 year olds Young Mens Secretary EQ Teacher (6 years) Stake Athletic Director Sunday School 13 year olds again Young Mens Presidency 2nd C "Teachers" Back to the F*&^^03@m EQ Executive Secretary/Bishop Young Mens President Executive Sec. again EQ AGAIN Executive Sec. again final- High Council From the HC I called it quits and left. The SP confided in me he was prepping me to be the next Bishop and I would have none of that. This all took place from 1971-1991 Here's the kicker, in all that time I was always a card carrying member and NEVER paid a full tithing. It's amazing what personality can do to get you by in the Church.

Missionary, then jumped to AP without being DL or ZL EQ Instructor EQ Counselor EQ President Ward Finance Clerk HP Instructor HP GL SS Teacher 14/15 Yr Olds Webelos Leader
Stake Librarian - 13 years (they forgot about me - wicked divorced member, I had been ward librarian for several years)
Stake Leader of the Indian Placement Program - six years, 40 kids, Navajos, Apaches, etc.
Gospel Doctrine Instructor - eight years in all.
High Priest Instructor - 4 years (never called, got tired of people reading from the manual, developed a lesson for the next week and kept teaching for 4 years. The Group Leader never caught on, until he tried to release me when he was released. He actually got tears in his eyes, when he learned I simply took over the job without being asked, because I saw the need.
Prison Instructor, four years, our ward had a prison ministry. I was there during a break-out and shut down. Continued the LDS class, while guards searched the chapel with rifles.
I have had a different type of LDS history, callings wise.
Family History Specialist - forever! I love this job.
Webelos Leader - two years, I HATRED this job.

Cub Scouts all dens then Cub Master Assistant Scout Master then Scout Master. Elders Quorum Secretary. That sucked. Various callings (activities and such) Various primary teaching 8 and 10 years olds.
Audio Visual Specialist. A Stake calling. This one was great because no one could touch me (reassign) and I was very good at it. The SP told everyone ‘hands off’.

You know what else they usually call people to be clerks that are good at math and accounting. I would say these types of people are more logical thinkers and don't have as much emotional ties. Plus you have to skip a lot of brainwashing meetings to get the clerk work done. It least it was good excuse to miss sunday school and priesthood. I am sure this had something to do with it as well.

They kept me busy but never put me in the big time with the Dry Council or Bishopric.
Ward Financial Clerk Ward Membership Clerk Counselor in the Bishopric Sun Beam Teacher (with my wife, was actually a lot of fun) Elders Quorum Instructor.
Oddly enough, after I came home from my mission (already doubting the veracity of the church), I received no callings at all. I once overheard two members of the bishopric talking about calling someone to teach a Sunday School class, and my name came up. That's why I kept listening. The bishop declared the he refused to have me teaching a class. I was, he said, too educated, and was known to be a voracious reader; he was not going to allow someone like that to teach a class in his ward!
I assume that was the reason there were no callings in any other wards I was in, either.
Elders quorm instructor, and counselor. Executive secretary stake presidency veil worker Los Angeles temple two years. Married in three different temple's, Washington, DC, Salt Lake City, Manti Utah. Stake dance coordinator, taught dance at BYU, two years. Four years seminary graduate. Graduated BYU. BYU dance teacher two years.
And resigned a few years later. But when I was a member, I was always the president of whatever age group I wad in. (Beehives, Mia Maids, Laurels) I hated it. Especially since I'm a tomboy, but they wouldn't let me plan a lot less "quilting" activities. Instead, I had to plan baking, cooking, quilting, sewing, baby care nights. Yuck.
I always preferred sports, ice blocking, lazer tag, career nights.
I was Primary teacher and then just before I stopped going the bishop asked me to be RS teacher and he about fell out of his chair when I said "no thank you", because no one refuses a calling, right? He asked me why and I replied that I didn't feel comfortable teaching something that I wasn't sure was really true. That was the beginning of the end for me.
I wouldn't give talks or bear my testimony, so they always ended up giving me things I could do without having to interact with other people too much. I made the weekly ward programs. About the time I started on my way out, they gave me the Sunbeam class to teach. They thought it would keep me coming, but those kids were BAD and made me want to come even LESS.
