My daughters best friend slept over at her cousins house and went to church yesterday. The best friend is NOT mormon- the cousins family is TBM.

The friend was sharing with my daughter the freakish activity that happened in Sunday School. The Deacons came in to "inspect the 11-13 year girls and tell them if they were "modest enough".

Each girl was required to stand in the front of the class and be critiqued. It went something like this.

Her hair-
Her face- make up
Her arms- covered enough
chest- showing any shadow of cleavage or "clinging"
belly area
butt- clinging or tight
thigh- tight or showing any knee
shoes- sexy or modest

They didnt pass out Burkas or head scarves for the winners- but I am thinking that should be the next prize instead of a MEDALLION- Perhaps they will have a midwife check hymens???

THESE PEOPLE ARE NUTS. Where do they get off telling 12 yr olds they have the right to judge women?

At least I know that my daughters friend will NEVER join- her mother went nuts when she found out- and my daughter agreed with her friend and declared Mormons - MISGUIDED FREAKS-

Okay, nothing against you personally, but I call bullshit. If that happened and no father of the girl did something, then shame on each and every one of them. I'd have kicked the AP leader's and YW leader's ass all the way to next Friday.

Just sayin'...

Give em time Ron--I would be incredibly pissed, and I got a son!! If he was involved in that bullshit......

I can believe it though. I don't know where she is, but around here one kid is or has started a "modest is hottest" club at the local high school. This is because he can't talk to girls and not be turned on at the same time, and since he is TBM there is nothing he can do about it (or at least not supposed to do about it).

This is what a few of the kids say around here. I am so glad my kid is not growing up this way!!!

Indoctrination into the Boyd K Packer school of thought.

Damn. I'm glad my daughter is 18 now; she wouldn't put up with that BS, and I can't see my boys going along with it if some douche tried to implement it in their ward. I would go ape-shit if I had a daughter who was subjected to that :O

This was a lesson and not an every Sunday activity. I think it taught a very valuable lesson. When it comes to being Mormon- prevention is the cure!!

12 year old boys get excited over unclothed department store models.

This is completely inappropriate!
Training those little twerpy boys to turn into arrogant judgmental priesthood assholes.
Training the girls to please the priesthood.
This turns my stomach!

They are lucky my daughter wasn't in there. What does it say about the girls that they would LET the boys ogle every square inch of their body, and then stand their and wait for their opinion? These girls need some serious backbone! Apparently they have already learned the lessons on obedience.

And we all know the boys will talk about them and compare notes later. This story makes me sick. The creep factor is off the charts.

Soon the deacons will be saying: "This is the great day of my power. I reign from the hairspray down to the toenail polish..."

YIKES!

The song Dream Police by Cheap Trick springs to mind. Man, I bet the Morg would love to be in the heads of the members when they are asleep.

How old are the deacons, and was there an adult in the room at the time?

If either the deacons or the supervisors of either class of kids are 18, I'd be telling someone in authroity or those girls' parents directloy, that grown men were ogling the girls' bodies, critiquing their clothing, hair and makeup in what could be construed as suggestive/sexual ways. And that it was stopping right the hell N.O.W.

Or I would be taking that story with its very creepy details, straight to the media.

That's just wrong at so many levels. Any way to cajole parents into complaining?

If this is true, regardless of the age, it is still sexual harrassment and should be reported to the authorities.

Imagine that happening in a school setting.

I won't even go into what it is teaching the young boys to be or what type of victims it is teaching the young girls to be.

Ewww. That is revolting on so many levels. It needs to be stopped immediately and the girls and their parents should be issued an apology (and perhaps a few sessions with a competent therapist to try to undo the damage).

That "activity" was pure BS
Thanks for the heads-up, my TBM DW still takes the kids to church and I have a daughter AND a son who could have been marshalled into that line-up.

That's something that would crack my tolerance for DW taking my kids to church.
