I have shih tzu yorkie mix, she is the sweetest, soft, fuzzy little thing ever. She can do about 20 different tricks. Keeps me so entertained. She loves, loves, loves kids.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or Scottish Terriers. Yorkies are cute, too, though and Alsations are also nice. Welsh Border Collies, also.

Weimaraners. They are so cool. I wish to have one someday but for now we have a cat. They are easier with small children.

Had one growing up and would love another one. But for now we just adopted a chiweenie (chihuahua and dachshund mix) and she's perfect for our kids right now. Easy to handle, not too big, and a cuddler.

But a German Shepherd...

+1 on the blend. We had a lot of dogs growing up, mostly pure bred. The best dog we ever had, by far, was a boxer-lab mix.

For me, there are different breeds for different reasons. Smart dogs like Border Collies and GSDs are like having another person in the house. Coton de Tulears are NOT smart but very sweet, and fun to groom and cuddle. And dress up :P. Yorkies are full of attitude and keep you laughing. Goldens and Labs are sweet and dependable.

Hell, who am I kidding! I love them all!

Whenever I see the Wesminster dog show on TV, I want one of each kind I see!

I'm happier with little dogs. They are just easier for me to manage.

I've had two tiny poodles. They were yappy, a bit anxious, and required grooming but I loved them like crazy.

I've had two Golden Retrievers. They were gentle, kind, and big.

I had one cocker spaniel that was a bit aggressive and had seizures.

Now I'm on maybe my last dog, a mini dachshund. She loves to play and is a wonderful little companion. Never chews anything except the toys she is given. She's not a barker. No grooming. Smart. Likes me to hide things. She'll spend hours looking for something she knows I've hidden. She's the first hound I've had. She's so different than my little poodles.

It's amazing how different they can all be.

Dogs are a gift. They give so much and only want to be with us. My life has been richer sharing life with pets.

I've had four beagles/beagle mixes and they have all been special. All have enriched my life so much.

Other poster had me smiling, but you had me laughing.

Woof.

This is my favourite breed:

Not the most intelligent of dogs, but loyal. A bit like me.

I also like French mastiffs and boxers.

My dog is half Havanese and half Schnauzer. They call them a Schnese. LOL

My dog is part Taco and part wired haired terrier[or something like that]. Anyway, she loves me and the cat and we love her. She and the cat, [female, Simese] are about the same size and same age. They do everything together, eat, sleep, play and get excited at every outside noise. We all sleep together and have a lot of fun. Could it be any better?

I have a boxer, and I love the breed! He is SO good natured!!
Breed habits mix well with my family, and I see no reason to ever own a dog that isn't a boxer...

Wow. It's really difficult to choose a favourite, although I've always had a soft spot for Beagles.

I'm planning on getting them a dog to give them something to do. I need a non-barker, friendly, easy going personality, neither hyper or lethargic. Medium size. Anybody? You can email me off-board. Thanks.

He is friendly to people he knows but he is very protective and does not like strangers until I introduce them.
