"I don't mind you lying to me. I mind you thinking I'm stupid enough to believe you."

That was a phrase commonly used by one of my CO's when I was in the Army. He trotted that one out whenever he even supected a subordinate was being less than honest.

That's how I feel about the mormon church now. Of course they lied to me. That's what churches do. I mind them thinking I was stupid enough to believe them. And I'm REALLY angry that for awhile, I WAS stupid enough to believe them...

I always tell my students if they're going to lie to me, they'd better make it a really good, creative story. If they tell me something lame, I respond, "seriously, is that the best that you can come up with?" lol
