More MORmoN two faced double standard BS.

Josh is going to be nominated for the Willard Marriott two faced Porno dealing MORmON award.

The "I'm a MORmON" video featuring skate boarder & photographer Josh Maready
Rings up a hit on a pro MORmON site on Youtube
NOTE this video had 89 thumbs down to 85 thumbs up on sunday sep 25 2010 10 AM MDT (give it another Thumbs DOWN if you have a youtube account!)

but because he doesn't say "Mormon Muffins", he gets a pass. If Chad had done his calendar without mentioning the Church, he might be getting his own "And I'm a Mormon" commercial right now.

Chad Hardy thumbed his nose at them, if he didn't antagonize them deliberately, after signing off on their stupid Honor Code. I see the hypocrisy in promoting this guy whose photographs violate their (idiotic) teachings about modesty, but it's not the same thing.

The big difference I see between the two situations is who was in control of the message.

yah, apparently its OK to photo some racy ultra scantily clad bare @$$ model as long as she is a NON member

but its NOT OK to photograph members in that state.

That is the same logic that was just noted on the gambling and hops threads.

If it's a non member breaking LDS rules, it isn't a problem if Mormons facilitate it and make money off it.

It's only when a member participates that the leaders go berserk.

And they call this morality?

I'm an atheist and I would feel slimy involved with gambling or porn at any level in any way. I don't like profiting from other's problems and pain.

Considering what I was taught, I see the problem with this guy being promoted as an average Mormon, but I think it's a little extreme to even begin to equate his work with porn.

He's obviously good, and the photographs are beautiful. Don't you resent being told that so many things were bad? I certainly do!

The Mormon church I grew up in would've had a problem with photographing Snoop Dogg.

I very recently had an experience with a TBM where they were very emphatic about porn being a depiction of any major exposure of the buttocks or female breast, I cant imagine that any of the LDS Inc Exec breathURINE would have argued for a more liberal definition in that instance, so I was just applying some of the seeming MORmON definition of what would be *porn* to this case to outline the MORmON hypocrisy. Please note that I stopped short of just calling it porn outright.

IF you can come up with a term or phrase that more accurately captures & better expresses the essence of this situation over "borderline porn", I will gladly apply it.

& you really hit the mark with your comment about Snoop Dog.

I don't think it's borderline porn. However, I was always taught "If you can stimulate yourself sexually to it, it's porn." I guess the GAs don't think it's that cut and dry. Especially when it comes to the big money makers. -.-

Wow.... I think I might just go back to church now.

If this is what being a Mormon is... I'm in.

The fuss is over more MORmON duplicity, just as the original post pointed out, & NOT over any overwhelmingly outrageous nature of the photos.

Do you think those photos are tame enough to be spotted in the Ensign or a GA's home, now that you are being asked.

I know this was brought up last year, but I still haven't recovered from seeing it. I was utterly shocked that this guy played Adam in the temple movie and apparently is/was recently a bishop in New York City somewhere--implying that he is temple worthy! Check out his stuff!

It is not there.

The other link viewed the pictures of Hanna. She's not being deliberately "titillating" in her garter belt and bra? We're not stupid.

Thank goodness he's not wearing flip-flops or double-piercings.

I agree with you, that Josh Maready and the Mormon cult are hypocritical.

"The Willard Marriott two-faced porno dealing Mormon award" LOL!

I talked to SP about his comments at Stake Conference. He said our area was one of 8 that was doing these Mormon spots about Mormons. He thought it was a great. After conference I said I don't think this will work.I gave him reasons. People are not that interested if your a Mormon or not and besides they show working women, part member families, etc, all the things that the Church has taught for years to avoid.

He said this was a different time, etc. Oh I wished I had these pictures of these two photographers. Especaiily the Temple Guy!!!!

I think it's pretty clear that they've always been hypocrites and they will do anything to get people to join. This is no more deceptive than the "milk before meat" conversion techniques. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. They are actively trying to SEEM less conservative, uptight, prude and old fashioned. That does not mean it's what they preach. It's just a recruitment method because all the ones that worked in the past no longer work in the information age.

I don't think any mormon-sponsored hypocrisy is noteworthy or surprising. It's quite expected, really.

I keep seeing posters use the term 'MORmON' spelled just that way. Is this something that a lot of exMormons do to kind of express that they don't like Mormons or think they are all morons?

Or is it a joke I just do not get?

I feel stupid to ask, but I finally just had to. Does this way of spelling Mormon mean something special?

You've got it! Many people who are familiar with mormonism, especially the "apostates", don't have a great deal of respect for the religion (or TSCC: The So-Called Church), so it's an ongoing temptation to spell certain words as MORmON or MORONi. A joke.

But is there more to this? Did Joe Smith come up with these words because he sincerely believed that anyone who would believe the trash was a moron?

You bring shame to the skateboarding community for one thing. Secondly, you just bring more hypocrisy to Mormonism. Stop being fake and hypocritical Josh and just be yourself!

These people will never really get any real respect in the Church because they are not orthodox enough. But looks like the Church has no problem trotting them out like some freak show in an attempt to score PR points. Just sad. Do these people really think that the Church values them for anything other than token diversity and tithing?

Josh Maready is most definitely an idiot. I deal with him on a daily basis, and his idiocy astounds me.

Man, this must be one of those "I know porn when I see it" episodes. I looked at all those photos and none stuck out as being porn. Dude! You're reaching on this one. It appears you think porn is defined by what the morg drilled into your head. I've seen better "porn" in an Avengers comic book.

Just sayin'...

I viewed the photos on Josh's site back when this thread first started.

Because LDS Inc. hasn't pulled his ad altogether, I suspected that Josh had altered his website. And confirmed today. Yes, the most revealing of his photos have been removed as forestpal mentioned. (Did anyone happen to save a screen shot of the original?)

I specifically remember a photo of a topless woman in what appeared to be nothing more than a ballet tutu. No nipples showing, but she was wearing a whole lot less than the playful shirtless missionaries in Chad's calendar. Although, I think I'm safe to guess that even the raciest of Josh's photos are far more 'wholesome' than the porn available at the Marriotts.

It seems, for LDS Inc., the primary consideration is who benefits from the skin. What's a little T&A (or a lot--or porn) if it manifests more tithing bucks or a hipper image for the PR campaign?

Perhaps "primary" is an exaggerated, self-serving, unfounded claim in the previous paragraph. <<edited to read>> Who benefits from the skin is *among* the considerations of LDS Inc. *Snark*
