Check out this post on Babycenter!

http://community.babycenter.com/post/a31710953/another_modesty_complaint_at_byu

A girl was studying when some dude came up to her with a note. She thought maybe it was a love letter, but it turned out to be a note chastising her for what she's wearing.

You can see her Facebook post about it here...

And this is the outfit in question...

BYU has always been a micro population of extreemists. When I was there in the 1980's the same thing was happening.

BYU students are the extreemist islamist human bombers of Mormonism.....total extreemists.

I would expect something like this at Pensacola Christian College or Bob Jones University.

I saw this puerile patriarchal behavior all the time when I was there in the late '70s. Unfortunately there was no FB then by which to have fun at the pompous fool's expense.

Pretty funny. Note that the presumably TBMs commenting on the facebook account find his note as ridiculous as we do.

So...
I'm 99% positive I know the boy who wrote this, because he was a friend of mine in junior high and high school, and I just compared the handwriting to my yearbook. It makes perfect sense.

I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, with all the fiber of my being, that he wrote this note. In the name of douche buckets, amen.

I spent a good 30 seconds staring at the pic trying to spot a hint of cleavage or maybe a cameltoe... nope, nothing. It's too modest. She's wearing thick tights FFS!

Is me the only one who thinks that that is an extremely effiminate hand of writing for a "guy"? Combine that with not liking a bit of cleavage on an otherwise overdressed woman, and the conclusion seems obvious.

She should have stood up and screamed "you PERVERT - you are thinking of having SEX with me!! You love my BOOBS! You are overcome with LUST? You are sick, sick -- somebody call standards because this FREAK is sexually harassing me."

That would have been the last time he did something like write a letter and it would have put the blame for the immorality back on the person from whose mind it sprung.

Yup; that's mormonism

A couple in my former ward preached against bringing of treats to Primary Class, lest the children come only for the physical nourishment and not the spiritual..... I wish I was joking.

Looks like BYU hasn't changed over the years.

I was at BYU in the 1980s when the BYU Bookstore banned Muppets greeting cards because there were complaints that Miss Piggy was showing too much cleavage. (Maybe I wouldn't have turned out gay if I could have oogle Miss Piggy's lucious felt breast in the bookstore???)

Quote from the BBC ladies...

" I actually appluad the young man for standing up and saying something. We teach our daughters that dressing suggestively (which tight leggsing are very suggestive) or immodestly is just like being walking pornography to boys. It is just as much thier job to be modest and not ot temp boys as it is for boys to treat grils with respect. hat young man was right for callling her immodest dress to her attention. It seems like lots of people think dressing immodestly in tight clothing is ok, when its just as immodest as wearing revealing things. "

In all fairness, though, even most of the LDS ladies think this is ridiculous. Three ladies asked her if she was serious that women who wear leggings are "walking pornography". This was her response...

"Yes, this what Elder Oaks taught when young women choose to dress immodestly they become pornography.
Church standard specifically speak out against wearing tight and revealing clothing.

Robert D Hales said,
Such informality may come in part because of indifference. It may come from a lack of understanding or a lack of proper example. We are now two to three generations into wearing casual apparel, and we may not all have had good parental examples of appropriate and modest dress. Popular culture generally has not provided good examples either. The declining trend may also come in part because it is difficult to buy modest attire in today's market.
In everyday living, immodest clothing such as short shorts, miniskirts, tight clothing, shirts that do not cover the stomach, and other revealing attire are not appropriate. "

Then when someone said she was glad she wasn't a young woman, Miss High and Mighty Holier Than Thou says,

"I am certain dress standard apply to women of all ages. Although everyone is allowed free agency. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." *BARF*

Who died and made him the modesty police?
Does he really think that woman is going to Obey him?
That little dip is lucky she let him live.

in a strange way this was his creepy way of coming on to her? You know like he was sitting there and was moved by the spirit she may just be the one.. or he knew just by looking at her that she IS the one and if she could only be more modest they could be together........

so he wrote the note....

or

omg what an idiot. But I believe it could be his twisted way of coming on to her. Think about it. My friend was confronted by a guy over her being "to bold of a woman" after knowing her for a few weeks he asked her on one date... she thought why not.. he proposed on the way home from dinner.. they knew each other a few weeks and before he "reprimanded" her....

A few months ago I would have said he was gay, but I have become more sensitive about the suffering of others and now I know the guy is not gay, just a sexually frustrated hetero that takes the no masterbation crap way too seriously. A gay guy would have said "nice outfit".

That is the blessing of polygamy, too many wives to satisfy leaving no time or energy for playing with the penis. Joe Smith, get your ass in here it is my turn.

The worst aspect of this otherwise funny/pathetic incident is that taken to its logical extreme, you get women and girls blamed for being raped (e.g. the Muslim cleric in Australia who caused a furor a year or two ago for saying rape victims were "uncovered meat" tempting their rapists). The LDS woman on BBC talking about "walking pornography" would no doubt agree.

So more BBC ladies are taking the Mormon lady to task...

She defends herself with

"Like i said eeryone has the right to free agency. you can choose to not follow church standards of dress or you can foollow them. Or even follow some but not all. Your choice. I choose to teach my children not to pick and choose thier standards no matter how small of an issue it may seem.

With respect to lengths of skirts, there is a point—which need not and perhaps cannot be identified in inches above the knee—where the wearer is calling attention to herself, exposing too much of her body, and sending off signals and inviting responses that are not consistent with the standards of the gospel. Girls, especially those who have not previously studied on this campus, please examine your skirt lengths carefully. Where you have any doubts, seek the advice of more experienced persons who are familiar with and supportive of the standards of this campus. Wear a skirt length that will appear modest and proper at all times, not just when you look down on it as you stand before your mirror in the morning, but also a length that will appear modest when you are climbing stairs, stooping, bending, sitting, and walking across stages.

As to the reason for modesty in general and skirt lengths in particular, I cannot do better than to quote President Joseph Fielding Smith:

As I walk along the streets on my way to or from the Church Office Building, I see both young and older women, many of them ‘daughters of Zion,’ who are immodestly dressed. … The wearing of immodest clothing, which may seem like a small matter, takes something away from our young women or young men in the Church. It simply makes it more difficult to keep those eternal principles by which we will have to live if we are to return to the presence of our Father in heaven.†(New Era, January 1971, p. 5.)"

What a nut.

Kind of scary. I think the girl might want to carry a blindfold with her and offer it to the next person who is offended by how she covers her body. :)

Holy hell. A classic example of how the church can exasperate mental illness. What a psycho! Poor girl. Like it's her responsibility that he's a perv and can't control himself.

Did anyone catch Samantha Bee's segment on the daily show last night? Darn feminists for thinking men can be something other than prehistoric rape monsters!

The guy who wrote the letter can barely write. Is this typical of the students who attend BYU?

Oh, and of course, there's the sociopath angle to this as well. That guy has spectacular psychological problems.

Well done BYU. You take the creeps that other universities turn dfown. or so it seems.
