Curry, which is actually a mixture of spices....from Wiki..
Most recipes and producers of curry powder usually include coriander, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, and red pepper in their blends. Depending on the recipe, additional ingredients such as ginger, garlic, asafoetida, fennel seed, caraway, cinnamon, clove, mustard seed, green cardamom, black cardamom, nutmeg, long pepper, and black pepper may also be added.
How much, and do you grind it first with mortar & pestle, please do tell. I make a "killer" lasagne too, and Cabernet Sauvignon is a necessity to the tomato sauce.
not as popular as it once was, but it adds a nice zing to homemade soups. And my Lithuanian grandmother's Chrustchiki just would not be the same without mace.
I love cinnamon, ginger, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper. One of my favorite stores is Penzey's, and I'm fortunate enough to live within driving distance so I go there whenever I can. Their spice blends are really good, plus I can get hard to find spices such as gallingale. They also make a great ranch dressing blend, all you need is the buttermilk and mayo for some really good dressing.
