"Antonio Darden, who had cut Martinez's hair on three occasions and runs Antonio's Hair Studio in Santa Fe, N.M., re-crafted the notion of civil disobedience when he declined to accept an appointment."

Those of you who felt refusing to photograph a gay marriage was illegal discrimination, what do you think about this? Does the hairdresser have a right to refuse to cut a persons hair because of their political views? If yes, how is it different?

Of course a hairdresser has the right to refuse a haircut.
We are, fortunately, not quite at the point yet where the law compells a person to cut hair when he doesn't want to cut hair.

And he was applauded by Mormons everywhere.

This particular person I think would be not so applauded.

Interesting. Were this just anybody off the street I think the hairdresser would be on pretty thin ice. But, since this is a senator the hairdresser could claim to be making a political statement that is protected under the 1st Amendment.
