The majority of the Utah's state and federal representatives are LDS. Utah's political leaders seem to believe they serve the interests of the people by serving the interests of LDS, Inc. This is the heart of the problem.
Internet sales pose a threat to shopping malls. In Utah, you are supposed to self-report the sales tax for online sales on your state tax return. Most people fail to do this and no one has ever been audited by the state for this issue. This creates an uneven playing field, especially from the perspective of those on own and manage shopping malls.
I'll give you one guess where LDS, Inc and Taubman stand on this issue? What do you wanna bet enforcement of sales tax on online sales gets a whole lot in coming years?
