Why don't TBM's find this suspicious that when JS wanted someone to do something he had a revelation FOR them instead of God/Jesus/Holy Ghost/Zardoz telling them directly? Especially when pretty much every priestholder is supposed to have the power of revelation (which is actually based on whatever pops into their head or some odd dream they had the night before).

Anyway, I realize it's a rhetorical question, because Joseph Smith was soooo dreamy (and not culty at all....)

One of my favorite examples was William Clayton, JS's scribe. Clayton had married two sisters and wanted the lovely, third little sister. JS had a revelation stating that only 2 wives from one family was allowed. JS then sent Clayton to approach the lovely chick in behalf of JS - yep, JS wanted to marry her!

Lucky girl, she rejected them both ;-)

That gift of revelation sure came in handy for Joseph in a pinch!
