Any recommendations for reading about Nauvoo? I have a feeling there will be a trip planned to visit there next summer and thought I could lay some ground work with the wife learning the real history. She picked up Mormon Enigma briefly but was not interested in reading church history at that time. But now she has a vested interest in learning more about Nauvoo.

Rough Stone Rolling
Nauvoo by Glen Leonard

Both cover everything you could ever need to know. The place is actually quite beautiful and interesting.

This book might be a bit rough for a TBM. The Nauvoo section is just one part of it. It is the BEST authoritative source from a non-Mormon perspective. And the 1880 publication date even further validates it. I had read about it quite a while ago, but never hoped to actually see it.

I might just read much more, because I was raised there.

It is unmanageable as a download on my computer.

If she's more interested now, don't discount "Enigma." That would be my first answer....
