In the US, Hold Your Nose and Vote For Romney is a way to say mormonism has arrived. It's now mainstream and a way to get more converts.

How do you think a President Romney would play outside the US? Would it help or hurt mormonism overseas? Many see mormon missionaries as being part of the CIA. Would people be more or less suspicious? Would it help missionaries or make them more of a target?

Absolutely it will make missionaries more of a target, both for terrorist and anyone who is unhappy with American policies. This can be minimized by creating a wall of separation between the church and Romney, but it would never be completely erased.

I don't think it will do much for Mormonism, all things considered. It will certainly raise the profile of Mormonism as a religion, but contrary to Mormon wisdom, this will not result in any net benefit to the church. It will alter the nature of many doorstep discussions with overseas missionaries and water cooler conversations with colleagues in the office, but on the whole will neither increase converts or hostilities to any significant degree.

It'll make the TBMs I know bloody unbearable. They'll wear it like a badge of proof that the church is true.

Yeah it might not convert more, but it will definitely make mormonism mainstream. Contrary to what church leaders tell you, most people don't discriminate against mormons because most people don't know much or care about mormons. This will change that to where they definitely know about them. Beyond that who knows.
