As usual, not a word about the accuracy of the content..only that the intent is to persuade believers to not believe. Well, no shit! Either what the site says is true or it is not...who cares what the intent of the admins is ? Faulty Mormon fear mongering logic at its best.

LOL wow hmm... I guess this really is the only strategy they have with MormonThink. Just get them to not look in the first place. The LDS Church really is screwed in the long-run.

Those FAIR scum are the worst anti-Mormons on the planet next to FARMS this century. That is because the Lord's
Church is led by me a living prophet. Thus you may learn the Truth on the scriptures, ordinances, and the history of the Kingdom through continuing revelation. Do you have questions on the Book of Abraham, Book of Mormon, curse of Cain, Mountain Meadow Massacre, Kinderhook Plates, polygamy coverups, or any other matter. As the living prophet of the most true and honest Church on earth it is my duty to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. For verily thus saith the Lord ......

"Clearly, foretelling future events is only one calling of a prophet; many Biblical and modern prophets have carried out their calling by focusing on other roles. For example, Elijah is considered one of the great prophets of the Old Testament, and yet he didn't prophesy about the future. In a similar way, President Gordon B. Hinckley has made numerous social criticisms on topics such as the ills of pornography, the importance of the role of the family and the need for self reliance."
http://en.fairmormon.org/Prophets_don%27t_prophesy
Because expounding on the ills of pornography is clearly what Elijah would do if he were alive today.

Really pathetic, when you stop and consider the mountains of evidence that porn actually reduces serious sex crimes.

Like what Mia said. She read through the section on Abraham and within minutes she was out of the Church. Um, I would not cite that as evidence of anything if I were them. It doesn't even have very much to do with their premise and actually encourages people to find out what is wrong with the Book of Abraham that it caused this person to instantaneously stop believing.

Now kids, before I put you to bed, there's something important you must remember.

Don't look in the closet. No matter what you may hear, or what others may tell you, don't look in the closet.

There's a monster in there more terrifying and destructive than anything you've ever imagined.

It's called Truth.

First- under "accuracy" it says that MormonThink is mostly critical of the church's "truth claims". Does that imply it's inaccurate because it doesn't support the church's truth claims? That's blatantly false logic.

Second- it says the website divulges temple details. So what? That's mentioned as if it's a litmus test for truth.

Here's a litmus test fer ya, "Fair Wiki" is bull sh1t. The church is an all-out fake. Defending the church is charlatanism.

A search of their entire website came up with only references that are barely a week old!

They have a response to my "Questions for Mitt Romney" (http://packham.n4m.org/romney.htm ) at http://is.gd/fs0ysh

That's it! For 15 years I have been publishing anti-Mormon stuff on my website, and they have completely ignored me! I guess I have to work harder.

BTW, they quote a post I made on this board just a few days ago. The FAIRies are watching!

The FAIRboys are like the paparazzi. They follow me around from board to board hoping to catch me saying I drank Ice Tea or called somebody a meanie or something and therefore that somehow invalidates in their minds all the arguments against the church like the Book of Abraham, BofM anachronisms, temple & Masonry connections, etc.

I feel so special now to have my own little Mormon paparazzi hanging on my every word and won't hesitate to quote whatever snippet I may have said on any board often taken without context. Five years ago I was a nobody but now I actually have a following of apparently extremely bored and frustrated people that treat me like some sort of celebrity. It's kinda cool. How many people can say that?

I assume they do this because it's easier to attack the person making a strong argument rather than adequately address the troubling Mormon issues the critics and truthseekers raise about the church.

I feel so special that they devoted a whole page to MormonThink some years ago. I want to publicly thank FAIR because after they mentioned John Dehlin and MormonThink at the conference in 2009 and made a website attacking us, MormonThink's hits skyrocketed. The number of unique viewers went way up and have stayed that way largely due to FAIR's recognition of MormonThink.

FAIR is the best advertising money can't buy for websites analyzing the truth of Mormonism's claims.

Richard, don't give up. I'm sure your 'FAIRies' comment will give them all sorts of fodder to persuade the faithful to immediately dismiss all your logical arguments about the linguisitic problems of the Book of Mormon that you have presented so well on your site. Why should logical apologists try to answer them when they can just cut and paste some posting snippets you made on a message board in an attempt to dismiss you? This shows how good your arguments are Richard.

They don't want to really delve into understanding the true denizens of Outer Darkness...

Plus, in their secret EQ meetings they tell each other that you and I and Richard and Benson are all the same person... BTW, Mia, you can expect them to insist you're both Cheryl and Susan I/S... Just thought I'd warn you...

We are all one individual, of course, and our secret RFM temple name is Satan...

And once again a Cabbie note to the FAIR lurkers: Be careful; hanging around here can be toxic to testimonies... As you are, we once once were.

I can't believe they told my BoA story! If I had seen that as an active member I would have wanted to know what was so shocking that it would cause someone to leave the church in a new york minute.

I would have went straight into a search. Are they using that comment to break the news to members that the BoA is a load of crap? I'm the person who wasn't asked to give a talk for 10 years because they didn't like the way I put out the truth. Just announce it over the pulpit. Let the chips fall where they may.

They didn't mention me. I feel left out.

This is my favorite part: "Accuracy: Conclusions drawn are predominantly negative toward the truth claims of the Church."

They can't say that the site is dishonest or inaccurate, so they dismiss it because the conclusions are "predominantly negative." Well, no kidding. When one knows the truth about the church, the conclusions tend to be negative.

Maybe I'll put links to both FAIR and MormonThink on my blog. Readers can figure out for themselves which site is accurate, and which one is desperately spinning things to keep people from reaching "negative" conclusions.

Best I got was a "Denial C. Peterson isn't bad," and he never bothered to take a shot at my day job...

Okay, some vintage "Danny's"

Simon Southerton; "Plant geneticist"
Tal Bachmmann: "obscure Canadian musician"
Steve Benson: "Cartoonist"

And the winner (because he got under Denial C.'s skin the deepest):

Will Bagley: "Lying, venomous, gas bag."

I think Brother Peterson hates me. After the big blow-up over that photo essay on Time, I've pretty much stayed away from him. I don't hate him, but it's not productive to interact with him.

As a TBM I was pretty much clueless about church apologetics. I had no idea there were websites dedicated to "preserving faith" in people who happend to have a brain. I was similarly ignorant of the websites exposing what is so carefully hidden by the church. I simply didn't move in either circle, I went to church then I went home. I drank the kool-aid and just tried to endure to the end.

Once a member of the church starts questioning or looking for answers their days of blind obedience are numbered. At least that's the way it looks to me. If a regular(not CES or otherwise paid a salary by the church) member is reading the fair site the battle is already lost.

Do they really think publishing a "review" of anti-mormon sites is going to do anything other than increase the ranks of the dissafected?

It’s funny before I knew the definition of apologists within that frame, I only knew the definition of apology, you know as “a plea for forgiveness for a wrong act with the implicit admission of guilt”, and couldn’t figure out for a long time why the ones defending the “mo faith” were called apologists … ;-)

They sound so paranoid-- warning the faithful about the evil internet.

If a belief is so unsupportable and tenuous that just being exposed to people who differ would threaten to upend it, that belief is not worthy of being held.

I have to second the above mentioned where them doing this adds to the number of hits for the two mentioned websites. Are they that blind or that convinced? I mean the fewer Mo's there are, the more planets they get to have, right? oh yeah the couplet thingy...

LMAO

It's pretty desperate on FAIR's part. Isn't it odd that simply telling the truth, the simplest way to handle objections, is so far away from their standard operativng procedures. Idiots. What a cult.
