So I'm going to a conference in Chicago next week. I've never been, and don't know a lot about the city. Can anyone give me some ideas about places to see or go to while we're there? I want to make the most of my time while I can!

I love visiting Chicago, I love walking and it's a great walking city. I suggest Millenium Park, Lake Shore Drive and people watching on Navy Pier. Adler Planetarium and Field Museum are supposed to be top notch although personally I haven't been there yet.

Hancock or Willis Tower observatories, especially if weather is clear. Also fun to check out all the shit you can't afford on Magnificent Mile.

I had a conference last summer in Evanston, a north shore neighborhood and home to Northwestern U. It's another great neighborhood for walking or chilling by the lake.

Check out McCormick Place, 2nd largest convention hall in the western hemisphere so who knows what kind of shows or exhibits are going on there.

My conference is in McCormick Place! Convenient - conferencing and touristing all in one place.

There is a little trolly bus that you can buy 1 day passes on. They go to all the major sights every 20 minutes or so, you just hop off at the museum or whatever, then catch the next one, to the next site when your done.
