This is self-reported and includes inactives. So who knows. But stake growth (a more accurate measure) has declined significantly.

Yep, this "census" just plugs in the church's numbers without any qualification. Given the terrible activity rates, these numbers are highly inflated.

You can't trust their numbers

They don't want to be seen as a secret society, but until they tell the truth (verified independently) that's exactly what they are.

Number of active members? That's a secret.

Annual income from tithing? That's a secret.

Financial statements? That's a secret

Temple rituals? That's a secret

The LDS Church also lists children as members. Most Christian churches do not list children as members (at least not until much older). That alone will skew the stat and make them look like they're growing at a tremendous rate compared to everyone else.

Oh Yay! So then it must be the one true church! Oh wait, what do you say? Fewer ward units were created last year than ever? Satan has such a hold on people and even the very elect are led astray...SO then it must be the one true church! Oh Yay!

When quoting numbers for the LDS church, you have to be really

careful of the original source. This outfit is just a front for laundering the church's own fantasy numbers. Mormons will try to use them on you all the time.

ARIS and Pew have far more accurate numbers from huge surveys.
