I think it is like Bonanza. Everyone goes around acting like they are a pioneer, while you wait for this big climatic thing to happen that never does. Nothing ever happens on Bonanza, and nothing ever happens in the church.

It could also be like Arrested Development. All the money was lost in bad real estate schemes, but everyone goes around acting like everything is just fine.

Or maybe its like Full House, never funny, and you have a creepy guy who always wants to hang out alone with children.

'I'm sorry I haven't a Clue' [although, really, that's a radio show]

hmmmm...........TV.......how about
'Would I lie to you?'

why it appropriate?....... the show is a comedy panel show, where people have to tell lies and try and get away with it

GCB! When I saw the previews for this show about women competing through Church I just knew its true title should be RSB. I especially love the character who can quote any scripture with an interpretation that suits her whims for the moment. Relief Society sisters have sooo much more material to work with. My TBM ex-wife should star in that show!

Whose line is it anyway.

Everyone in church is like an improv -
The audience is like the leadership giving ambiguous direction, and then the members interpret what they think is correct.

If it doesn't turn out just right their actions can be disavowed by the church if necessary.

Americas got talent
They interview the crap out of everyone. Young and old alike. They then put you on stage and judge you. If they like you, they will often lie to you about your talents so they can keep the show interesting.

If they don't like you, you can be the most talented person on earth and it won't matter. The precocious little children will be used to further the show, no matter how it damages them.

The bishopric/judges have egos the size of Texas and love to flaunt it.

The winner gets to be a general authority.

It has to be the Walking Dead, it deals with the resurrection.

Lost Girl. Based on fairy tales with an emphasis on lurid sex.

Look at all the happy faces that seem to be so phony. The body language of the cast is almost robot like. Strange.

Welk was a task master that ruled with an iron fist.

Bwahahaha!!
My parents LOVED them a little Lawrence Welk.
I come from a huge, musically talented family.
They would go on and onabout how someday,
we would all be showcased on
the show, and go on to become just like the osmonds.
Thanks for the giggle!!

It's a lot like MythBusters, except at the end of each show they ignore all the evidence and just go on their feelings.

for lbenni - funny you should mention the Beav. When my hubby and I were at BYU (to go to the library for something), we skipped across the campus whistling the Leave It To Beaver theme.

All of the contestants are convinced that their case has the $1,000,000 in it. Watching them slowly open cases and see their dreams fade away is very similiar to finding out about the church.

Well it's not a TV show but the morg reminds me of the doomsday cult, the necromongers from the Chronicles of Riddick. Love Vin Diesel :-)

The Prisoner (a TV show from the 1960s). Thomas Monson is Number 2. As revealed in the final episode (spoiler alert), The Prisoner himself is Number 1.

The church tries to make everyone into his or her own jailer.

I loved "The Prisoner" and wish I'd thought of it myself....so much like the Cult, especially if you live in the southern Alberta Moridor...

6: Who are you?
2: I am number two, you are number six.
6: Who is number one?
2: That would be telling.

The intro gave me nightmares as a kid. It's a trap, and the kid reminds me of Smith.

Well, it's a movie, not a TV show, but I figure that the movie The Stepford Wives was modeled after life in TSCC.

An old BBC series called 'The Tripods' - a dystopian sci-fi cult (haha) classic - I think of this series often when you exmos describe your experiences.

Here's a clip: doesn't this just scream mormonism?!
