in all my years (33) as a member of the church I remember hearing of three temple endowed men who visited escorts and got caught. Credit card receipts, arrest, and jail.

I wonder how many don't ever get caught?

Mexico and Latin America it flourishes, same in Canada where it is legal.

Joseph Smith the founder of the Mormon church visited hookers in MO and IL before marriage and during too. He was a busy guy.

What a pig.

Probably not something openly discussed amongst partaking members. Btw, while paying for sex in Canada is legal, solicitation is not. You can still get arrested for inquiring, ie picking up an undercover cop dressed as a hooker and offering to pay for services.

A business transaction between two consenting adults.

The state has no business in this, however the spouse may.....

I knew a woman who was a school counselor in a SLC area school district. She was working with a mother/daughter combo who sold their bodies for pleasure.

One day the mother told the counselor it was none of her damned business what she and her daughter did, expecially since their best costumers were "Mormon."

The counselor thought the mom was trying to offend her and asked how she knew their clients were Mormon and the woman replied, "By their funny GD underwear..."

Damn, Carol. Reading the pieces of your story that you share in various threads makes me cheer for you that you dumped that jerk! What a tool.

I remember the young women's president's husband was arrested
For soliciting a hooker and he was part of some big bust that got on the news.

I know of one TBM who married his escort. I'm not kidding, a real for sex escort, and he married her. Kind of like the movie Pretty Woman, but without the happy ending.

I hope he got at least one happy ending out of the deal.

Hooker lovers, Mormon or no, are a strange breed. I once worked with a roofer who pulled down an easy 70 grand/year (in the late 80s) and had a stunning wife. He treated 5 dollar crank-whore blowjobs like a glass of orange juice, just couldn't start his days without one.

I had been disassociated from the TSCC for about 15 years when I went to a Continuing Medical Education session on Infectious Diseases. The state's chief medical officer, who was conducting the session, wanted to reinforce the point that you should always be suspicious of sexually transmitted diseases in your differential diagnosis and not make assumptions based on a patient's social or religious profile. He used as an example the dilemma faced in the State STD clinic when a trainee in Infectious diseases confronted "the man he sits next to in his priesthood meeting each Sunday".

As Mormons are a tiny fraction of our population, viewed as decidedly odd & not main stream this provoked knowing laughs. His use of the term " priesthood meeting" convinced me that the incident had indeed occurred.I knew that there was a Mormon who had recently graduated in Medicine( a rare event in our part of the world at that time)

I actually think it should be legalized but heavily regulated. Prostitution is an ugly business made worse by the fact that it is operated by people who care little if anything for the law.

BTW, as perverted as I am, I have never desired to pay for it. Well, other then through the traditional methods of dinner and lots and lots of drinks.

Years ago I knew someone who processed the checks & credit charges and she had the goods on all sorts of Mormon hierarchy types.

For all the secrecy around, erm...SACRED protection of their holy handshakes, Mormons just don't know how to be secretive about anything else, including their extramural sexual antics.

My former temple-married hubby, come to find out, has been picking up street walkers for at least a dozen years. We've been divorced almost 18 years. But I got drug into it when one of his regulars who has some beef with him found me on Facebook and started sending me messages trying to solicit some kind of sympathy from me (didn't work) because he messed with her, making her think he was some kind of good guy who wanted to help her, just to get a good break on her services. She also believes he murdered a provider. She sent me pics of some of the other girls he "runs with" (i.e. picks up), and my son recognized one as a girl he thought his dad worked with and was dating.

Anyway, my son and I wanted to see how dark it really was since my son and his wife and daughter were living with him while trying to go to school. We found ex's name all over the hooker sites in this town where hookers warn other hookers of scary clients. There were even pictures of him in his office at work, his name, where he works, where he picked them up at, etc. I was able to find some of their arrest records. It's just so sick and twisted. Needless to say, my son got his family out of there even though it meant he had to drop out of school.

BUT, the good news is... he (ex-hubby) is still a Mormon in good standing. Yup! (although "less active" unless his Mother is visiting). Same guy from my story I've posted several times about his high council court when we were married after he confessed to porking 2 different BYU girls when we were BYU married students. That's when I was commanded to be at the court and one of the high council members asked me if I felt like I sexually satisfied my husband. I responded "apparently not," and he was only given a slap on the wrist (probation) and was in full fellowship again the next year. I found out later that he never felt like he had to confess to "just sleeping with" Japanese girls when we were in Okinawa in our early married years. Cause, you know, those weren't "affairs."

I thought about sending all this stuff, including links to the hooker sites, to his bishop with a note that I love telling people that this guy is a Mormon. As far as I'm concerned, he epitomizes what Mormonism is all about. But frankly, I just don't effing care. Just shows what kind of "inspiration" the penishood clowns really get.

What a jackass--your ex and the high counselor. Makes me wonder if the HC was boinking his secretary (or some such) and the story he told himself to justify his behavior was that his wife just wasn't properly servicing him. See, he's trying to hold his eternal marriage together by getting some on the side, so he really is the hero after all. It's all his wife's fault. Always seems to work out that way for these dreamboats.

So much additional pain these so-called inspired men of god heap on those who are already being victimized and betrayed. I'm sorry you went through that. You seem like a kick-a** chick (that's a compliment) that came out the other side with a lot of strength, and your ex is the guy who even the hookers think is a low-life.

Kirton, McConkie and Poelman, now Kirton and McConkie, in City Creek Center, right across from Temple Square. He got arrested while getting a BJ just off State Street. Early 1990s iirc.

Nothing new under the sun! In the early days in SLC, prostitution was tolerated.

Jan 15,1897 Apostle Brigham Young, Jr. temporarily resigns as vice-president of Brigham Young Trust Company because first counselor George Q. Cannon allows its property to become "a first class" brothel on Commercial Street (now Regent Street), Salt Lake City. Apostle Heber J. Grant is invited to its opening reception and is stunned to discover himself inside "a regular whore-house." This situation begins in 1891, and for fifty years church controlled real estate companies lease houses of prostitution.

My BYU roommate (from Sri Lanka) confided to me that he went to a brothel with his brother outside Las Vegas.

At the time I was aghast.

Now that I'm out of the church I see his visits to hookers differently.

If there even is a gawd I don't think he/she/it cares.

Mormon men are really messed up sexually anyways from growing up in a dysfunctional all controlling cult.

I still feel the effects on my sex life from being raised in the church by a devout Mormon mother. Another way religion screws people up. Guilt about sex.

Mormon church messes people up. That's why Utah watches the most porn. I wouldn't be surprised if they see a lot of hookers too. Might be the most normal a mormon man ever feels.

I firmly expect to see Bednar implicated in a hooker scandal before it's all said and done. I can just see it in his countenance.

hired a male escort just once because it seemed the best way to end over 25 years of closeted celibacy. Best possible decision, no regrets.

- against allowing two adults to make consensual decisions about sex devolve to the squeamish feelings one might feel about one adult person paying another adult person for sex.

Seems to me like the same canard used by many in their arguments against same sex marriage.

Legalize then regulate - that's my take.
