Strange, I know a Charles who is Filipino who served in Davao during the late 80's, but for the strangest reason I don't think it's you. :( ? Still though, I am curious. Are you still attending church by chance?

Nope, I've never even been to the Philippines, I just know my friend who served there and was in my ward for some time.

I was hoping to see if any missionaries that went to the Philippines on their missions got out of the church too.

He still believes some of the religious part, but hates the cultural weirdness, as he was a convert. He lives in Spokane, Wa.

I feel that leaving the morg happens in stages. He will get there eventually...I hope for his sake.

Praydude, are you from the SF Bay area? I used to have a surfing buddy from there who went to the Philipines about that time. He used to mail me pictures of surfspots over there. I was kind of jealous because he said he lived really close to the beach during his mission. If he only had a surfboard, he could have actually had some fun on his mission. I'm afraid he may have gotten sucked into the cult permanently, because the last time I talked to him, he had moved to Provo and was getting married.

I'm not from the bay area but I live in the bay area now. I'm sorry to hear that your brother moved to Provo.

As for surfing in the PI...I never saw waves that would be big enough for surfing. In between the islands the Philippine sea is very calm and glassy.
