Myself, being a good old boy from Georgia, there is only one I would consider.

Free Bird.

Hell yeah!

At the risk of becoming musically gluttonous in my death, I'd have to add:

I'm going to live forever, so I don't have to think about that.

If I'm wrong about that, I won't be there anyway. Let them play whatever music they want. Just don't torture the living with anything mormon. God forbid someone might think it's a good idea.

My brother wants "The Final Countdown" by Europe blared while his coffin is lowered into a grave billowing with smoke. I fully intend on doing this for him (unless he marries someday and she has a better idea) I'm just not sure how to rig the smoke machines.

For myself, I don't know. Hadn't thought about it.

Aggressively we all defend the role we play
Regrettably time’s come to send you on your way
We’ve seen it all bonfires of trust flash floods of pain
It doesn’t really matter don’t you worry it’ll all work out
No it doesn’t even matter don’t you worry what it’s all about
We hope you enjoyed your stay
It’s good to have you with us, even if it’s just for the day
We hope you enjoyed your stay
Outside the sun is shining, seems like heaven ain’t far away
It’s good to have you with us
Even if it’s just for the day
It’s good to have you with us even if it’s just for the day
Outside the sun is shining, seems like heaven ain’t far away
It’s good to have you with us
Even if it’s just for the day
It’s good to have you with us even if it’s just for the day
Outside the sun is shining, seems like heaven ain’t far away

That's a beautiful song by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Why not team it up with a mournful beauty from the same album: "Probably Always Will."

I used to want "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap, but now I would rather "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop.

I changed my mind about my death a while ago. I used to want people crying and missing me. Now I just want people to smile about me and enjoy life!

Nothing. I hope I die on my terms and that I celebrate my life while I am still alive with the people I love.

That way loved ones won't need a funeral and I can get burned up and put under a rose bush.

I've always dreamed of a one hour layover between death and afterlife. I get a prime table in the Club Purgatory with beer, whiskey and Jamaican cigarettes. The house band is a dishelved group of long haired guys on drums and guitars. The first half hour of their set is an epic-length version of "Born on the Bayou." The second half is "The Levee Song" with that wicked harmonica.

The music is relentless, hard and pounding. Afterwards I stumble to my eternal reward like a zombie, ready for all takers.

I have it written down (somewhere), and my sons know that's what I want. That, and purple balloons set free. I am donating my shell to the local medical school, and will be cremated when they're done with it.
