I have a suggestion which might alleviate the political threads problem. Why not set up a Political Discussion board on this site exactly like the Recovery Board? Put the link for this on the main board, next to the Biography Board.
I think one reason that RfM is successful is because of the posting format. The Yahoo groups board format is not as good and not as popular. I'm not trying to put that board out of commission, but having a political board on RfM would eliminate the headache of monitoring for and deleting political threads.

Having another forum doesn't solve the problem.

The people that set up and run this board do enough already without expecting them to set up and run another forum to allow something they really don't want to deal with.

I did read the sticky notes. The Yahoo groups is what I'm referring to.

That is why they offer an alternative.

If you want a better alternative, how about you doing the work to set one up and manage it?

Seriously, how much are you going to demand from people that volunteer tons of time and effort to make this work?

Seriously, Board "A" doesn't work, Board "B" doesn't have the right people in it.... Excuses, excuses. Give Board "B" a try, maybe you will find you actually LIKE having a discussion with them. non-mo related politics is usually an issue only around general election time. It will die down. It will die down less quickly this time, given the defeated candidate was a mormon.

Why all the hostility? I make the suggestion as a way of alleviating the burden of constant political threads on RfM. My intent was to be helpful. Of course with Mitt out of the picture, this will be less of a problem.

All you have to do is look.

Why the demands that people (the owner and admins) should do what they clearly do not want to do?

It can also get hostile when a person that is way to lazy to do a 10 second google search posts suggesting that people that have already done much, much more than their share do even more. Heaven forbid the OP has to actually do something for him/her self.
