I have a suggestion which might alleviate the political threads problem. Why not set up a Political Discussion board on this site exactly like the Recovery Board? Put the link for this on the main board, next to the Biography Board.
I think one reason that RfM is successful is because of the posting format. The Yahoo groups board format is not as good and not as popular. I'm not trying to put that board out of commission, but having a political board on RfM would eliminate the headache of monitoring for and deleting political threads.

Having another forum doesn't solve the problem.

The people that set up and run this board do enough already without expecting them to set up and run another forum to allow something they really don't want to deal with.

I did read the sticky notes. The Yahoo groups is what I'm referring to.

That is why they offer an alternative.

If you want a better alternative, how about you doing the work to set one up and manage it?

Seriously, how much are you going to demand from people that volunteer tons of time and effort to make this work?

Yea I tried to get into that group but wasn't "accepted" I guess.

Hell, just having a link here to a non-RFM, but recommened by RFM political board would do the trick..

Is this the case here? Hell I wasn't even the one asking, I was just curious

=============================

People here...seem to like to talk to other people HERE...

Do the people HERE...go to a site to discuss politics with other people from HERE????

Seriously, you have a suggestion for a political board where you can discuss Mormonism and politics.

People "HERE" can go there or NOT go there if they choose.

Also, see my response where you tried your absurd "people here" rant.

http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,701316,701383#msg-701383

Seriously, Board "A" doesn't work, Board "B" doesn't have the right people in it.... Excuses, excuses. Give Board "B" a try, maybe you will find you actually LIKE having a discussion with them. Maybe you will get a more diverse set of ideas by talking with people other than the ones that post "HERE"

non-mo related politics is usually an issue only around general election time. It will die down. It will die down less quickly this time, given the defeated candidate was a mormon.

I think the recommendation is to have a working link to a nonRFM political board that maybe Eric or another one of the politically minded people here could recommend.

No additional costs in that

The resources are out there for you to find. Don't know why you would expect Eric to do your research for you.

I think that's the question and someone like myself wanted to know if there was such a place. The Yahoo site didn't accept" me. Is there another...that's the question?

Nice attitude...you plan on wearing that all day??

You say "recommendation is to have a working link to a nonRFM political board that maybe Eric or another one of the politically minded people here could recommend."

I, "another one of the politically minded people here", "recommend" a "nonRFM" "political board", clearly meeting your requirements and you suddenly start insisting "People here...seem to like to talk to other people HERE...". Many of the people "HERE" do not want to talk politics.

You have your recommendation that fits your needs, time to stop whining.

"start insisting "People here...seem to like to talk to other people HERE...". Many of the people "HERE" do not want to talk politics."

But so do also. Not everyone fits in the box you have made up for what people here like or do not like to do....

What do you want Eric to do, FORCE people here to use a particular board?

Get real. Eric has already provided an alternative, you don't like it? That is your problem. Eric is not obligated nor should he be expected to pander to a need he has no interest in and does not want to be bothered with the EXTRA work it would entail.

People are free to go and discuss things were ever they want, we can not force them to use another board because YOU want to talk politics with the same people here.

Seriously, are you trying to make me think you are a nut case?

Take your meds dude...You go way overboard here from time to time.
I wasn't asking Eric do any additional work.
I chimed in with the OP regarding maybe a political board people go to from here.
I didn't insist anything.
I too, like many others here had a question.
Sorry you felt the need to try and "put me in my place."
I'm not trying to subvert the board.

There's a sense of community with the people here and I felt apart of it, hence my curiosity about maybe other site others here go.

I guess I was wrong...

I am not trying to put you in your place. I tried to SUGGEST an alternative to you, and alternative that met ALL of your requirements, and that simply WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU.

Sorry I tried to help.

Also, just how is it that you think a nonRFM board is going to have the same people as here posting? How is that going to happen?

I gave a suggestion, you didn't like it.

Not my problem.

Why all the hostility? I make the suggestion as a way of alleviating the burden of constant political threads on RfM. My intent was to be helpful. Of course with Mitt out of the picture, this will be less of a problem.

All you have to do is look.

Why the demands that people (the owner and admins) should do what they clearly do not want to do?

Sorry, I do get ticked when people too lazy to do a 10 second google search start talking about volunteers, that already do way more than enough, should take on even more so the lazy assed person doesn't actually have to do anything for themselves.

It can also get hostile when a person that is way to lazy to do a 10 second google search posts suggesting that people that have already done much, much more than their share do even more. Heaven forbid the OP has to actually do something for him/her self.

Well, yes. That question pops whenever MJ goes nuclear on someone. Today that someone is you. ;-)

Consider it a rite of passage or like a passing case of viral gastroenteritis.

Old tactic to try to discredit valid ideas.

And after 30 years of countless hours of volunteering, I do get INSULTED by RUDE people that are too lazy to lift a finger to do something for themselves suggest that the people already doing more than their share do even more. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE.

No, I will not buy into your controlling behavior. I will not accept that telling the truth about your rude behavior is "picking" on you. I will not conform and put on Garments either.
