What's with all the begating?

So the scriptures contain a lot of boring so-and-so begat blah-blah and on and on, which is supposed to show Jesus lineage?

Is that even realistic? Are we to believe that all these biblical guys were always able to have sons that grew up to have sons of their own? Where are the daughters?

Why is there no break where one guy only had daughters?

If he only had daughters, then nobody bothered to keep his lineage. The girls clearly didn't matter.

He just chose fertile people who he knew were gonna pop out male babies :P

Always wondered about that.....I just remember that back in the 50's and 60's there was a $hitload of begating going on....every F&T meeting there were babies getting blessed. The ward was growing like a field of bad weeds.

Jesus lineage? If there was a virgin birth, there would be no all male lineage.

The genealogy of Jesus is more problematic than just gaps and no women:

Different genealogy, tracing the lineage back through Joseph even though that would contradict the version birth...

Yeah I never understood that one.
I remember a religion professor at BYU-I trying to explain it like it was to a different audience- to prove that both of Jesus's parents were noble, even though Joseph didn't matter.
