Since I don’t want to mess up someone’s topic:
I left church 1973, told the bishop he should take his church roll it really tight and shovel his church where to moon cannot shine and since than I call may self not Mormon anymore.
What benefit has a resignation besides a may be satisfaction for the person that resignet?
I don’t believe that the church erases you from their records only because a person resigns. They mark you as resignet but otherwise everything is still there.

Sure it is still there. I have a friend that resigned after a divorce (almost a rose war) in 1989 in Karlsruhe Germany. He got his confirmation letter from SLC.
I don't know what exactly happen but he started to go to church in Esslingen Germany around 2000. He had to be re-baptized but they had all his records handy.
