Some have been my closest friends through real tough trials for 20-30 years.

Glad you could find a community that practices inclusion and equality. Polar opposite of most Mormon culture we are familiar with huh?

is my ex's last partner. We are so much alike. I wonder why my ex was in relationships with both of us?!?!

We are also friends with my ex's boyfriend prior to that. We ALL get together often for dinner or even Disneyland. I could NEVER have said this just maybe 12 years ago. I feel more comfortable around my ex's last partner than any friend I have.

I have been breaking into the LGBT group in town and it has been great.
I never knew a gay person growing up and had much nonsense in my head, I had to clear it. I have learned a lot from this board and I am grateful for that. Luckily I haven't insulted anyone yet :)
Getting to know people one on one and then finding out they identify with LGBT community is eye opening for me.
Yes, there is still much left over in my head but working with a gay exmo in real life expands my world for the very best. He has explained things for me and taught me things I need to know about street life and being gay. He also tries to shock me but after MJ I don't shock as easily :) rofl!
still learning and I am glad I can
:)

One of my sons is gay. He 'outed' himself when he was 25. He has the support and unconditional love of the entire extended family. If anyone gives him a bad time they are taking on all of us. This is unlikely, because although he is the nicest person in the zip code he looks like a scary guy in a Quentin Tarantino movie.

He has told me that his life was made easier because when he was young I discouraged the use of the word 'gay' as a general purpose pejorative - 'that is SO gay.' usage.

It all depends on perspective, I guess. I am considered quite "vanilla" when it comes to gay sex.
