today is the first time elder packer has shown signs of senility. he's stalling a lot and tripping over his words.

You know, when they strap the GAs into their chairs so they don't slip out or fall over? How weird is that? The men are so old that they can't apparently sit up on their own, but they still make them attend and "preside".

he's old and his message is old. i won't root for his "retirement," cause it's permanent and all, but i sure won't miss him.

Then he never apologized for it, and the Church passed it around as a pamphlet to the deacons. So, the world won't really be a worse place for his absence in it.

It shows that they are not in charge themselves. You've got to wonder who really IS in charge - who's pulling the strings?

but I hope he hurts.

He is the most hated and reviled mormon leader in the last many many decades.

I'm one of those he hates, and it is sent right back at him.

His words when I was young caused me pain and self hatred. His words after being parroted by others nearly led me to suicide, I'm glad it didn't work.

I hope he lives long. Long and painful.

I hear you, Levi, and I am glad that you are still here.

For a long time I thought I had only two of Packer's three strikes against me (moderate intellectual, intense feminist). When I finally accepted my place in the final category, I wrote the resignation letter.

Packer laid the message out there so clearly that if I had not been in denial about myself, I would have been out 19 years sooner.

Glad to be where I am now and will not compromise my integrity again.

I hope he is just as healthy as Suharto!

Levi is spot on: How many of us prayed and sweated over that effing pamphlet back in the 70's,80's, and 90's? Too many.

Personally, I hope he lives to be 243 (which means he'll be dead in a couple of years then? ha ha!), but still age as a normal human does.

Now THAT would be suffering
