Because there are people here who understand me. Who understand me like nobody else does.

Some people -nevermos- are sympathetic, but they really never get it 100%. Not like my exmo family, here at RFM. There are people here that I care about, and who, I hope, care about me.

Thanks for having been here for me. And thanks to Eric for starting it and for having kept it going. It hasn't always been easy to keep it going. Eric, I am so glad you went the extra mile to do this.

As a nevermo, I LOVE this forum. The people here are SO cool. And it helps me get over leaving my family church, which was fundie Xtian and pretty cult-like in its own way, though not as invasive as Mormonism.

I come here to fatten my bulging "Mormon" folder of cut and paste information about the truth about the LDS religion.

It's already so fat that I have a hard time finding things in it. It needs many sub-folders, and I don't know how much of it will ever get a chance to be used constructively. But still I can't help but grab stuff and put in it.

I also come here to be entertained, and at times annoyed. Some of us just need the stimulation.

I also like to know that it wasn't "just me" that felt a certain way.

You, however, are a Goddess. Not like in the link I accidentally provided to the Goddess Dagny! Was I ever embarrassed! >:oO

A couple of days ago I was googling for something, and I ended up on some forum not related to Mormonism. As I was reading the posts, I came across something you posted there and I smiled. It was something about Tolkien being a Brummie. ;)

Your alcohol posts are, of course, inspiring.

You know, Mak, I will have to re-visit the towers that inspired his stories. They were at the bottom of my aunt's road!

My wife's recipe for Vodka Trifle is worth trying. Just replace half the water content for the jelly/Jello with the equivalent amount of Vodka. Wow!

It sounds like a very nice place to grow up.

I just thought it was so funny to run into one of your posts. What are the chances?

Very rare! But then, there are only a few Billion of us on the Earth! ;oD

We lived in an inner city area. Tough, but not as tough as some. But ten minutes walk away were the reservoir and the water towers, and a bit further on the mill and just a bit further the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Some of the best in Europe, I have been told. Plus Brum has more 16 miles of canals more than Venice! ;o))

RfM takes the "crazy" out of our experience in Mormonism. If somebody else went through it, too, then things really did happened the way we remember them.

There is so much secrecy in Mormonism that we may question our own perception of reality. Here at RfM, we are validated by other's memories.

;o)

That's true. The validation that we are not crazy or not recalling things properly is very healing.

She's fine, Scooter. Now eating a wicker basket. I have given her a kiss for you!

She is in my wife's good books, big time. She always gives us at least 24 hours warning when big winds are on the way (she does a perfect impression of the wind blowing) so my wife went out into the garden and made everything as safe as she could. And right on cue the winds came but did much less damage than we would have expected.

Why do you still come here after all these beers?

Oh, years.

My bad!

Got me piratin' outfit on, a Grey on me shoulder and the game just started!

Don't know about you, but that's why I'm still here after all these beers!

1. Because RfM’ers “get it.” We are sheeple no longer.

2. Lots of learning, both on topic and off-topic.

3. Easy-to-use exmo website, with superhuman (well, it seems that way!) administrators & staff.

4. Paying forward to newbies (like Shannon said)

5. The humor. While there are shocking and awful stories, our wittier posters uplift the rest of us with humorous incidents that only exmos can fully appreciate!

its the Church that's getting wrecked and its their own damn fault.

This board gives me all the details, provides the 3D glasses and has reserved front and center seats for me at the local IMAX theater. So I come here with my popcorn and extra large Cherry Coke and watch Engineer Tommy Monson riding his little Mormon Choo choo train, wearing his little hat, sticking his head out the window, tooting his horn (which NEVER stops!), and heading straight for the Union Pacific railroad of reality. Tommy doesn't even KNOW he's on the wrong track and just keeps screamin' for more coal!

So why do I keep coming here after 12 years? I guess I just love a good show!
