Ragingphoenix, your post about the hulk thing reminded me of a toy we used to have. It was a male Barbie but you could stretch his arms and legs. I want to call him Mr. Stretch but I know that's not right. He was pretty awesome though. My daughter is obsessed with the 80's. I love sharing with her how it was "back in the day" lol

We were watching a movie the other day and someone bought an album for $4. I was telling her that new albums were something like $9.99. She was shocked and amazed. I remember buying MJ's Thriller on vinyl...and Madonna, and Wham!. We had cassette tapes too but I didn't use those exclusively until 5th or 6th grade. I wish I had access to all the mixed tapes I used to own. That would be funny as hell to listen to them now.

Are you thinking about Stretch Armstrong?

I think he was filled with corn syrup or something. I had one and it dried up, probably from a leak or something. Anyway, I opened him up and he was full of pretty crystals. :)

"Human Nature" used to make me all melancholy.

First album: Dirty Deeds. I hid it from my mother, or so I thought until I heard her listening to "Big Balls" and laughing her ass off.

We used to have Prince on cassette. My douchebag TBM uncle put tape over the "tape" so we couldn't listen to Darling Nikki. He had listened to it himself (who knows how many times lol) and deemed it unworthy. I just listened to it at my friends house. She was Lutheran and her parents weren't psycho. That is also where I watched every single Police Academy movie.

Darling Nikki!

The castle started spinning or maybe it was my brain
I don't know what she did to me, but my body will never be the same

Her lovin' will kick your behind!
Lord! She'll show you no mercy!
But she'll sho nuf, sho nuff show you how to grind
Darling Nikkaaaay...

And I could not resist when I saw little Nikki grind.

I swear I was like, "OMG! What is he singing about?!"

Usually that stuff is somewhat veiled, you know?

And then I listened to more Prince and I was like, Wow.

Listening to Prince is like getting f@cked in the ear. Remember when he became a JW? Can you imagine opening up the door to Prince giving you a copy of the Watchtower? So crazy.

You know what is cool. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making a come back. My preschooler son absolutely loves them. I already bought him a couple action figures, Michelangelo and a Foot Soldier so he has someone to fight, and we watch the new cartoon every Sunday morning on Nick, it is our religion. He also has TMNT pajamas.

I have noticed that trend. I think it's cool too. It's funny what my daughter thinks is "cool". She love Garfield but she hates Alf. WTF?

They need to bring back Alf. I suggest he replaced Jimmy Fallen after next year, when Jimmy falls on his face hosting the Tonight Show.

They NEED to bring back Johnny Carson.

I haven't watched since.

I agree. Alf presented a worldly humor that cannot be replaced :)

Does "Will and Grace" count as part of the Generation X?

In fact, NBC's whole "Thursday Night Lineup" does: "Cosby," "Family Ties," "Cheers" and "Night Court." I think the lineup was longer than that, but I'm not even sure I got those four sitcoms right.

Broomstick skirts and ribbon chokers were hot in the 90s. I know, I had and wore them with gusto. Often, they're referred to as crinkle or hippie skirts. Whatever someone calls them, they are comfortable and cute. Since neons and skin tight jeans are in vogue right now, in 4-5 years the skirts will likely be the "new thing." Again.

Now, since when is 90s wear considered vintage?!? Etsy: The site that has no fucking clue what steampunk or vintage means.

I remember I thought that was the coolest thing ever. All those great bands chipping in. It was the Woodstock for our generation. We were the first indoor generation, the first divorce generation. We got much of our sense of brotherhood off the TV, after all.
