FYI,

It looks like they are doing another mass resignation event in SLC again this year:

June 29, 10 am.

Could be a good time to resign...

I am so resigning again, Jesus! It's a brilliant plan to have all exmos resign every year. They have to process each and every letter to find the legit ones. Bahahahahaha! What a waste of time! I'm almost giddy thinking about it!

Why not resign again and again? Once someone dies, the church baptizes them again and again.

Can we do resignations for the dead? Let's build our own Temple!

Ha ha it's tempting. Tit for tat. But nah, it'll just give them something to point at as to how apostates are so filled with hate and anger and what awful people we are. Plus, I'm trying to act more maturely these days.

The church will ignore it. You won't hear a peep, but we will all know they're working like mad to verify the real resignations from the fake.

Could the LDS put more identification requirements in place to making it harder for people that are actually trying to resign?

Will the media ignore it?

I don't think the media will ignore it, but just like the church always does, they'll let the doofus Scott Gordon do the talking.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to get my nevermo husband to resign, that would be a great time waster for the COB...*evil snicker*...

Haha, I like it Hayduke. Glad we met at lunch weeks back.

I don't think ex-Mormons need to "resign" again but they should celebrate annually their resignation as well as a show of support with those resigning. It would be cool if this thing could grow exponentially every year and be a show of strength to the Morg. The Morg leaders brag about their "growth" and their "total membership" numbers but we can show them that the ex-Mormons are just as large, if not larger!

That is a great idea. I can see many folks here into that. Would be nice if annual resign day was around the exmo conference.

I would agree with anyone that says that secondary, etc. resignation is useless, and pointless as the LDS Church doesn't show the person as an member on their active rolls anyhow.

I prefer the idea of an Annual Resignation Celebration of some sort.

Resignation is a personal choice of the individual.
If they have a need or desire to celebrate that date, that would be appropriate, in my view. Some do, some don't.

I've often thought about sending in a proxy resignation for my mom.

"This letter is for and in behalf of 'Levi's mother', who is dead."

Then she can decide one way or another in the hereafter.

This event really annoys the Mormons.

I believe that after last year's event, mormons were snarking at it like "hah, only 150 people, pffffff".

Hopefully this year it will be even bigger. Get the word out there to everyone and show those mormons that it's a growing trend.

What would be really cool is if they could hold this during the exmo conference when we will have lots of people here from out of state.

Yes, I second that motion

I don't know, that sounds like a lot of pressure... The one exmo conference I went to they couldn't even respect my desire for no pictures of me. I wasn't "out" to anyone about my disaffection, and there were a couple people who completely refused to accept or respect my privacy.

I would have been scared off if there was a media circus around it _at the hotel_ due to mass resignations. Easy enough not to go to an event, but what if the media comes to the hotel?
