As was mentioned in a previous thread I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Two days ago I had MRI and CAT scans at a radiology center to determine if the cancer had metastasized into my bones. The results of those tests came back negative meaning that the cancer is not in my bones. That is very good news!

I have an appointment scheduled for Friday with the urologist and he will discuss my treatment options from this point forward. I am thinking that I will have a good chance of being cured and that I will have a few good years left.

Thank you for the positive thoughts and wishes that were sent my way from RfM.

I am almost at my five year anniversary of finishing chemo. Not prostate, cancer, as I haven't got a prostate. Rather, I had a rhabdomysarcoma in my bladder (which my urologist removed and built a new one out of my intestines!!!)

I guess next you'll find out about surgery and chemo and/or radiation?

Best of luck to you, my friend. It's a tough gig, but it sounds as if you have a really excellent prognosis.

Good news. I know a man from college who had the radical procedure...don't know all the facts of the initial discovery. He is now 10 or 11 yrs. past all that and doing well.

That is wonderful. Yours is the kind of recovery story that gives me a lot of hope at the present time.

The many good wishes from RfM posters help me to maintain a positive attitude. I try (and mostly succeed) to avoid worrying unless I know for sure that I my situation genuinely merits worry.

My ex-wife died from pancreatic cancer in 2005 eight years after we were divorced. It was only nine months from her diagnosis until her death and she was age 59. Our two adult children miss their mother and so they are concerned about the possibility of also losing me.

I will know a lot more after I visit the doctor tomorrow. I am hoping that he will advise a treatment regimen that will not be too difficult and will *cure* me of the cancer. But whatever will be will be. This experience helps me appreciate medical science.

Saviorself, that is very good news. I have a suggestion, take a digital recorder and ask the Dr. if you can record your conversation. Later you will be suprised all that was said and all your didn't remember. I did this when I saw a specialist and it was very helpful.

All the best.

Excellent news! Keep fighting! And F--k Cancer. They actually have an organization with the same name. And they sell shirts. Found them when my father-in-law went through the same a few years back.
