Called on a mission to proselyte via the internet?

So I read the summary of the historic missionary meeting held last week.

Do I understand correctly: are missionaries now called to leave their cities and travel to other states or countries and do missionary work from a PC connected to the internet in a church ward building?

Why travel at all? the point of working remotely is you can do the same activities from your home. You don't have to travel anywhere.

Doesn't it seem a little pointless and a waste of money to send missionaries around the world to sit in front of computer screens connected to the world wide web?

Not to mention who wants to do that? where is the adventure?

The nice looking elders and sisters are needed to give tours, teach the gospel and baptize children of record. Each LDS building will need several sets of missionaries. Most wards and branches could not would not be able to have people there all day every day and missionaries really do nothing most days.

One of the first things that abusers (and cults) do to their victims is alienate them from their families and friends so they can be controled easier.
