I've been enjoying what's been going on here lately, especially the discussions on the refreshing and recent NY Times article. I've also been reading as many discussions/comments as I can in other places on the wondrous intertron. As I have done so, the most amazing, peaceful, warm, *insert more adjectives often attributed to THE SPIRIT by TBMs* feelings have been cropping up. I'm not used to these feelings right now in my life, so I'll take whatever I can get. I'm in the mood to reflect on what I love about being an ex-mormon (soon to officially resign).
I'll use the word "love" often in this post, and I do not mean it lightly.
I love coffee. I love it black, strong, and in the morning (a further testament to its greatness - it's impossible to describe without it seeming like sexual innuendo).
I love beer. I love porters, stouts, lagers, hefeweizens, pale ales (I love that I can't drink those without thinking of Pay Lay), pilsners, and I'll always have a special place in my heart for the cheap stuff. I love the camping, trips to Scotland, concerts, and friendships that have been enhanced by brew.
I love swearing. I fucking love swearing. I especially love the goddamn hell out of casually referring to certain persons as "fucked up chunks of ass chowder" instead of the "Lord's Anointed".
At times I say I hate it, but right now I love the human mind. I love seeing through, and rejecting, the false teachings I was conditioned to accept from birth. I love those who did that before me, they made it possible for me to have the information and courage to escape.
I love knowing that people can be honest, kind, and ethical without needing a mystical figurehead to bully them into submission.
What do you love?
