Isn't that the truth...

Thanks to BR McConkie for this very stupid and logically fallacious meme--his particular brand of certainty with respect to the "reality" of Jesus was once reserved for prophets, seers, and revelators.

Since that time it has become posh to co-opt his language and clothe "faith" or "hope" in terms of "knowledge". Sad, really. And very irritating because it is so logically wrong.

Ironically, the need he feels to express it so strongly stems from the fact that he *doesn't* *actually* *know*.

I'm going to see my daughter later this week. I have never once felt the urge to tell anybody that I "won't know any more then than I know now that she exists". Why? Because I (actually) know she exists.

(BTW, I think the mormons technically did consider him "prophet, seer, and revelator" when he said that nonsense.)

Ok, I know he meant he couldn't be more sure of something than he is now. But it can still be taken that he doesn't know now...

Considering how he has been wrong in so many instances, it'd be interesting to hear what he thinks he knows now.
