Lunch Today with TBM's after Temple

Today I had lunch with an old roommate and his wife. They are both very much TBM's. They are both converts. My old roommate is the type of person that follows every Mormon Urban Legend to the tee. If you are not also following every rule the way he thinks you should, he looks down on you. He seems like the perfect TBM the church would want.

We have been friends for 25 plus years (no close) but I was wondering if Mormonism is a good religion for people who want rules to judge others by.
