My concern is for your safety. I'm sure your attorney will tell you what you need to do to protect yourself and report this domestic abuse. The church membership can go when you are ready.

From what you posted I have a few questions: Have you documented everything with pictures medical reports? How about reporting him to the police for domestic abuse? Have you considered getting a good attorney and getting a divorce or at least going to a shelter? If you are an alcoholic have you looked into getting help?

What would I do? With the info you have shared, I'd go, support the birthday, bring a gift (kids love money!) and be civil and cordial, and kind.

I was raised by a single mother for the most part (in between some short marriages + siblings), went out on my own briefly, got married. Then after children and grandchildren in 50 plus years of marriage, I am single, a widow and on my own. Completely. (Not interested in getting married again!) As we know, a family can be any number of combinations of women, men, children etc. And when it's

It seems to be typical human behavior to claim their religion (deity/savior/god myth) is the only correct, right, true one, at least, on some level. Thousands of god myths have been worshiped and defended throughout the history of humanity. This is an interesting series that covers the history of human created deities and how some think they are aliens! The similarities of all of them down to

I converted in the early 1960's. I was never embarrassed or concerned about voicing my church membership or identifying as LDS or Mormon. I have never had any concern over anyone knowing I was a member. It's an integral part of a major part of my past, family, associations, etc. The fact that I changed my mind about my choice in a belief system (discarded the need for god-myths or a savior), d

The notion of Jesus returning is on-going ever since it was claimed by the writers of his story long after his death. The idea of End Days is popular in every generation. There is no evidence that anyone is going to come back from the dead,(real or imaginary), so I am not going to hold my breath!

Would you share your relationship with the LDS Church? BIC,Convert, believer, changed your mind, why? Stuff like that. Bummer on the virus - wheel chairs are really quite amazing these days. Hope you have one of those!

Here is a short review. It does not include the first ordinance: Washing and Anointing and the promises made there. http://lds4u.com/lesson5/templecovenants.htm It's hard to remember all of this if only done once, particularly the Washing and Anointing ceremony as it's usually only done once, the first time you go to the temple. Those promises are important to the believer. I was a conv

wow... not my experience. I am continually learning. I love life, my New Normal as a widow living alone after 50 years of marriage. I have a very supportive group of friends and relatives. We have a lot of fun, laugh a lot, share experiences. I'm often shocked by some people's inhumanity. But that's the exception.

Here is something to think about. "Cherish your doubts" "Cherish your doubts, for doubt is the attendant of truth. Doubt is the key to the door of knowledge; it is the servant of discovery. A belief which may not be questioned binds us to error, for there is incompleteness and imperfection in every belief. Doubt is the touchstone of truth; it is an acid which eats away th

I began attending rarely after some bizarre experiences in about Spring of 1998. A family member resigned with their family in about 2001 or so. I resigned my membership, confirmed June 27, 2004. Interesting timing. This was the date of the shoot-out at Carthage in 1844 when Joseph and Hyrum Smith were killed. Took me about 14 weeks and two or three phone calls to get them to proces and c

I think the real reason was other universities refusing to play BYU. The teachings were about when not if; after the world has received the gospel, or in the millennium. (Someone here can probably find the scriptural reference in a heart beat.)

Thank you for that recap. Well done my good and faithful servant (of RFM, of course! ) :-) Looks like Uchtdorf is the face of the church these days. His comments are turned into little post-it's and posted on FB all ready! "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith". Ya, I know, it's odd to me too!

I was taught that there is no skin color in the CK. It's a glorified body of light? of some sort. The teachings teach that like-minded people (according to their life's tests) are in the same group. Three degrees of the CK. Then there is the Terrestial and Telestial Kingdoms. All very interesting, with not an ounce of verifiable evidence, of course. Want to do an interesting study? Check ou

Kirby has been writing a weekly article for the Trib. for years. They keep him on the staff because he sells papers. None of his comments endanger his membership. A comment was made about an article he wrote years ago called The Five Kinds of Mormons. Here it is: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/lifestyle/54003962-80/mormons-church-percent-believe.html.csp
