One hour church serves could work, if you could go to the ward of your choice and they didn't take attendance like you were in grade school, and make the sermons (talks) relevant to the bible... I guess that would make more like Baptist or Catholic church.

She sure wasn't looking to what the ramifications of her actions could be. Does she still have a certificate that shows she completed the requirements for a Tenn high school education? If she can show she has a HS education, she should be able to get into college and/or some form of advanced education/training. I don't remember ever having to show my HS or College diploma for a job.

I first learned about LDS back in the late 60's. The family I was friendly with (I fell in love with their eldest daughter and was told a couple of years later to break it off) told me about JS and his death. The family told me that the newspaper was going to publish JS history of polygamy and that when JS and his aides destroyed the printing press and the sheriff got involved and got JS i

I see the majority of Catholics loosie-goosie about the Pope and rules of the Church. All you have to witness is the number of people that show for services on Christmas and Easter. On those days, the churches are packed to the rafters with people. On all other Sunday's and Holydays you rarely see a packed house. What the Pope proclaims, or changes won't impact the majority.

The parts of the sacrament of Reconciliation : Contrition: A sincere sorrow for having offended God, and a firm resolve not to repeat our sin. Confession: Confronting our sins in a profound way to God by speaking them aloud to the priest. Penance: An important part of our healing is the penance the priest gives us in reparation for our sins. Absolution: The priest speaks the words by

This reminds me of a recent topic of our men's Saturday morning coffee group. Someone brought up a topic about the Weyerhaeuser logging train that use to haul logs from Lewis County up through Western Junction on to the log dump on Woodard Bay in Thurston County WA. Someone mentioned it was a narrow gauge track. Another guy asked what was narrow gauge versus standard gauge, as he thought r

Several years ago, while visiting M/D in N. Mex. we did a tour of little towns around the area. We stopped at an old adobe Catholic church, in the back was an oblong woven basket, the size of a coffin, made from various sized branches. Dad asked if I knew what it was. I had no idea. Dad told me that it was used to hold the body of a dead person while they held funeral services. After th

I look at the topography of southwest United States and marvel at the geologic history in the mesas, the canyons. They all show great floods and erosion events over the eons. Look at the Lakes Missoula and Bonniville events to see natural history being repeated. I understand that the Appalachian Mountains were once bigger and taller than the Rockies and the Sierra mountain now. A great

Nah, just wondering what are some of the career choices people are facing now days that there aren't any wins and mostly losers. Compared to my early days out of college, Vietnam was the major loser and almost anything that could provide a draft exempt was a winner.

Why aren't all the meetinghouses converted to temples. Benefits: 1. Thousands of new temples to brag about. 2. All members need temple recommend (10% required) to go to any services. 3. No need to travel several hours, make special accommodations to attend a temple service. 4. Convivence to services. 5. Bragging rights to the rest of the world. I'm sure I'm missing some positive

As a Catholic, I remember this topic was discussed and some would say, "I prayed that my Grandmother would get well, but she died anyway." The answer was that God decide what was best, all requests are answered but sometimes not in the way you wanted. I think this reasoning is true for the Prayer Circle effort.

My introduction to LDS/Mormons was 50 years ago. Among other things, I fell in love with the wonderful LDS woman. We broke up a year later when so told me about the promises she made when she was a young teenager, she called them goals and objectives. If the LDS teachings were what they are now, we might have gotten married and I think have a wonderful life. Too late, how things have

I believe when you lose your best doggy friend, they go to doggy heaven. Later when you meet a friend/neighbor walking their dog and that dog treats you like a long lost friend, it has convinced me that there is communication between the dogs here and your dog you lost. The dog here is telling you that your best friend is well and no longer suffers the pains of this world and all is well.
