I went with the church of the fridg :) so why does the word fridge come up as a banned word here? ok so it is only banned if you say church of first. oh the irony that RFM bans words...

the fact he asked for a list could be a very good sign that he is thinking critically. once you think critically about your own religion, that is all it takes. the other option is that he has a plan to reconvert you and answer all those questions, reality is that is all good too. Encourage him to do so. Take it slow, no pressure and let him reason out for himself. When Ronin came back w

still hoping someone has found a scan of this. Also a thought anyone that can should store the churches current announcement somewhere as it is likely to change it again when they realize they just invalidated their own scripture.

I am convinced that the 'first vision' was the story of moroni/nephi originally, it was later embellishments that created a separate FV story from the Moroni story. when you lay all the chronology out in a time line this fact becomes apparent. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mcujtsv6z4qris9/First%20Vision%20Timeline.docx

if you want a guaranteed recommendation to lie, tell a leader you are losing your testimony from all these facts you are finding and you think you should tell your wife and kids... or any other ward member, you will be told to keep it to yourself guaranteed.

one thing that sealed the deal for me was that supposedly JS was being persecuted for this first vision, look back and you can find people calling him a fraud for the book of mormon around 1827, but you can't find anything about the first vision at all earlier than 1832 and then no criticism. IMO, the first vision was concocted after one telling of the BoM story got a little sideways from the

guaranteed, get the book! BTW electronics have a lot in common with the banjo, more than you probably realize starting with 'frequency' and 'Harmonics' The math that describes how the strings vibrate is the same math that deals with the vibration of EM waves

Faith from a believers perspective is defined as the ability to ignore fact and set it aside to still believe. faith = irrationality from this perspective. so he didn't have enough faith, he was far to rational

that line, 'he is a special witness' not had one is so insightful. Another example of lawyer speak, of course a man can testify with conviction 'I am a special witness' and everyone will assume they saw God or had an experience that each of us did not. what a subtle and sneaky form of deception...

When corporations or individuals take advantage of others and hurt them from their position of power it is common feel at fault. given some of what leaders in the church have said on this reinforces that 'blame the victim' mentality your plight is not uncommon. first order of business is to remember it's not your fault when others are acting like dicks. you are in charge of you like they

I have been thinking about this topic quite a bit, here is a previous thread to fill in some background http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,970841,971242#msg-971242 I have been discussing spiritual experiences with my family, I assert that I still have them, all the time. They just don't confirm to me the church is true. I think there is a real dichotomy for believers on this point.
