I don't actually know anyone, but now I want to start doing this. I have a little chihuahua mix with a real case of little man syndrome and he humps everything in sight. He would have made a great Brother Joseph!

Completely anecdotal, but three of the last five missionaries from my stake in Sandy, Utah have come home early. I've been out for too long to be part of the gossip circle so I don't know the reasons.

"You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will pray and never cease to pray to Almighty God to avenge the blood of the prophets upon this nation, and that you will teach the same to your children and to your children's children unto the third and fourth generation." Calling down the wrath of Gob on your nation sounds totally patriotic. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/

"There’s no excuse for sexual assault or domestic violence. There’s no reason that young girls should suffer genital mutilation. There’s no place in civilized society for the early or forced marriage of children. These traditions may date back centuries; they have no place in the 21st century." - Barack Obama https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/2015/07/26/r

TEXAS MCALLEN MISSION! I served from 2001-2003 and we were constantly cleaning up membership rolls for the wards down there. To be fair, others that came later probably had to clean up my mess too. Of the 22 people I baptized only 3 or 4 were still attending by the time my two years were up.

By my own stupidity in attempting to be said tiger. On a semi-related note, according to Korean mythology a bear and a tiger went into a cave and were to only eat garlic and mugwort for forty days. The tiger didn't make it, but the bear did and was transformed into a beautiful woman, married the son of God, and gave rise to people. Maybe I should petition to have that taught in science class.

From the study: "The probability that a child from the lowest quintile of parental income rises to the top quintile is 10.8% in Salt Lake City, compared with 4.4% in Charlotte. The city with the highest probability from moving from the bottom fifth to the top fifth is San Jose, where the probability (12.9%) is nearly three times that in Charlotte. The chances of rising from the bottom fif

Tall Man, Short Hair, After reading through that exchange my mind was swimming with competing thoughts so I very much appreciate a summary in question form to order my thoughts. 1. Civil rights case law is pretty extensive. Heart of Atlanta Motel, Bob Jones University, Piggy Park ( my favorite for name value alone) are cases I can name off the top of my head. These three all deal with race,

If we accept op's position that religion, or lack thereof, is responsible for the atrocities committed in the name of a political ideology linked to that religion, then wouldn't Christianity be responsible for the genocides that occurred during Western colonialism?

The only part of that conservapedia entry that had anything to do with Dr. Rummel is that one statistic on the estimates of deaths under communism. The rest of the claims are not his. Edited for spelling

I made a mistake in choosing to use headings rather than just quote you. I ended up both misremembering your quote and taking it out of context so I ended up misunderstanding your defense of the logical possibility of the soul as a critique of materialism. The only excuse I can offer is that I've pulled night shift until the end of the year so I'm mreading and responding at one in the morning. My

Total gaymer! Sorry if I get carried away... My two absolute favorite games are Katamari and Animal Crossing. I also like God of War, Skyrim, Alan Wake, Resident Evil, RDD, Zela, Final Fantasy, Xenoblade. I guess I'll probably lose all respect from any other gamers, but I love Nintendo. Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Super Mario Galaxy (all Mario, but especially Galaxy), Kirby might be my favorite Nint

You've over stated your case. One lone study doesn't establish anything and subsequent studies have not supported the original findings. http://www.apa.org/monitor/2014/04/pornography.aspx The section titled "Addiction to love?" discusses the Voon study from the Daily Mail article.

There's also interesting research that suggests that the female relatives of gay men (grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and sisters were included in the study) have higher fertility/birth rates which might indicate a genetic component.

I don't know that it's official doctrine (is any of it "official?"), but it's in my patriarchal blessing. Apparently I was among the most righteous that were able to choose our families on Earth so that we could be born in the covenant and raised in the gospel. My family converted when I was 12.

I swear I remember my mission president giving a talk in zone conference about how we should feel sympathy, not empathy, for the people we meet. He justified it with some condescending nonsense about "for vs with" and striving to keep the spirit. This was President Christiansen in the Texas McAllen mission. Anyone around that can verify this?

I worked in a psych ward in the South during my psychology clinicals. There weren't any Mormons that I can recall, but there were a few pastors from charismatic sects that would visit the hospital and give blessings to patients. Overall, it seems like their visits were positive. It was comforting to the patients and didn't interfere in our work, although one pastor had to be spoken to about why i

Hey all, thanks for letting me vent and for all the wonderful responses. I shared this thread with an exmo coworker and she laughed over the peeping bishop song so hard a couple others came over to see what was going on. Now she won't stop making popcorn popping hands every time she passes by. By the time I was getting ready for bed last night I was pretty much over the whole thing, but at 9:

I hope they don't take my card for this, but my flower beds are pathetic. I just can't get motivated to plant ornamentals. My vegetable garden, on the other hand, would make Martha proud.
