My father often asks me to say prayers at holiday family gatherings. I'm not sure if he genuinely forgets that I am no longer religious, or if he has an agenda. Either way, I politely decline and then wait quietly while the others pray. To me, saying a prayer feels like betraying myself and lying to everyone else. If you feel that way, too, perhaps you could express gratitude at having been a

Coffee is acidic, so it can be hard on the stomach. This is especially true for those prone to ulcers and acid reflux. But it tastes oh so good.

In my mind, there is nothing in Mormonism worth salvaging. Anything good in it, like love they neighbor and stuff, can be found elsewhere. I have no desire to reform something a think is pure crap from the very foundation. It would just be crap with a new coat of paint.

I once saw a great bumper sticker that had a silhouette of JS with the word "Pervert" printed next to it. Wish I'd bought it.

Hmmm, I've never heard of that pamphlet. I just got the one sheet of paper saying my name had been removed.

If you decide to try tea, I recommend the Tea Grotto. It's in the sugarhouse area at 2030 S 900 E. If you're ever downtown, you absolutely must go to Cafe d'Bolla. My best wishes to you as you move into this new phase of your life. You sound upbeat about the future despite your present difficulties, and I really admire that.

For example, I know for sure that minors under 18 cannot be baptized without both parents' consent. You can also threaten missies with legal action if they continue to come to your house after you clearly tell them not to. Of course, the law cannot stop your husband's family from being who they are, which will likely involve attempts to indoctrinate your children.

very well said. I am personally uneasy about dating inactive mormons who feel no need to formally resign.

Wow, I went the opposite direction of you two! I'm definitely a jeans and sneakers gal, so I loved pitching all those awful dresses, skirts, tights, and dressy shoes. I'm proud to say that I've worn a dress 3 times in the 5 years since I left church. I also chopped off about 3 feet of hair. I never did like fooling with it.

I'm a woman, and it seems like ever since I left the church I have become a magnet (platonically speaking) for inactive and/or doubting mormon women. In the early days I thought "cool! more people who are going through what I am!" But now it's not so cool because they always go back and I'm tired of watching those little ants march down the hill. I know who I am and what I believe, a
