Do you want them pestering you? You left, they are respecting your wishes and leaving you alone. You should be pleased not hurt. If they had pestered you to return to church you would probably complain about the Bishop not respecting your wishes to leave and be left alone. Might be a bit harsh but you are coming off as a bit of an attention seeker.

After having one anecdote from his autobiography (written by Sheri Dew) removed because it was demonstrated to be untrue, it now seems that he has been caught in yet another lie with his "Doors Of Death" anecdote that appears in the book and which Nelson has told a number of times over the years. https://discussmormonism.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=709 It's a bit of a long read (b

In a discussion about the prospect of polygamy in the afterlife my spouse said "Plural Marriage in the afterlife will be a choice...and you will be choosing not to." We both laughed.

If you take Holland's comments and look at all things he's said the Church is not (e.g. not a fairy tale), those are all the things he's personally thought the Church might be. saying the Church is not those things out loud is his way of quelling his own doubts. Remember the phrase about a testimony comes through the bearing of it? That's what Holland is doing. He must be dealing with massive cog

You should keep in mind that Holland is constantly trying to reaffirm his own testimony, he's talking to himself. The people bearing the strongest testimony are usually the people with the biggest doubts.

The phrase "Early church members considered..." is an example of gas lighting. Joseph Smith taught that the American Indians were the Lamanites. He even claimed revelations confirming it. "Other early converts also expressed “a great desire” respecting “the remnants of the house of Joseph—the Lamanites residing in the west, knowing that the purposes of God were great to

It's interesting - Nelson asked every members, globally, to make one GiveThanks social media post every day for the 7 days leading up to the American holiday known as Thanksgiving. Nelson himself has only posted 3 times, so he has failed to do what he's asked members to do. Uchtdorf hasn't made a single post (as at the time I write this). Why is he ignoring Nelson? Is he sick and can't post

Very few Apostles have been following Nelson's request to post something on their social media accounts each day for the nominated 7 day period. Uchtdorf and Holland are notable for not making any such posts so far. But many of the others are likewise not making daily #givethanks posts. Check out their official Twitter and Instagram feeds and you will see... What they were asked to do was &

When a companionship changes the mobile phone usually stays within the ward/zone. This sounds like a new companionship going through their phone records updating the contacts to see which are valid and which aren't. Sounds to me like the individual Elder was simply doing that and trying to be nice about it. Nothing more, nothing less. Missionaries contacting people on the Church records who no

If prayer and fasting worked, why did Covid-19 spread in the first place? If it was God's will, despite the prayer and fasting...then what's the point in praying and fasting when God will do what He wants anyway? Instead of praying and fasting, send money to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, you'll be doing a lot more good.

It’s worth noting that theses numbers don’t tell us much. It’s just a record of how many names were added to a list. It doesn’t tell us how many of those people added to that list in 2019 remained active in the Church beyond their baptism service. As the poster above points out, it doesn’t tell us the age profiles - it could be all kids, or it could be all over 65’s. The numbers ar

Most of the congregations in the UK are made up of less than 100 active members (including children and babies), with a few exceptions. I’d guess active membership in the UK is less than 35,000 despite having 188,187 names on a meaningless list.

I’m not sure Stake numbers are reliable, as the number of congregations per Stake fluctuates. So it doesn’t provide a reliable guide to member attendance. For instance, Stake numbers have stayed static regardless of the movements in total members and congregations. The movement in congregation numbers is a direct indicator of member attendance.

An interesting pattern is showing in the published statistics for the Church in the UK. Your thread title is misleading. It’s only the names of the disciplinary processes that have changed, those processes of removal and censure are still alive and well. You can put lipstick on a pig and call it Derek, but it’s still a pig.

Mr Ballard will hide behind the semantic position that not publicising something, or not promoting something, is not the same as hiding it. Of course, he’s being mealy mouthed. He knows it, we know it. Mr Ballard and his colleagues would do well to refresh themselves on the Church’s definition of “Lying”. “Lying is intentionally deceiving others. Bearing false witness is one f

In actual fact, Nelson is saying he is the arbiter of God’s truth. Because he is promoting himself as Gods spokesperson, and if you feel or hear something different from the Holy Ghost directly, well, that’s not God speaking.

That's not a new trial program, it's simply a local initiative to try and pressurise members into giving missionaries referrals. It won't work. It doesn't work. If members wanted to give missionaries referrals, they'd give referrals. "Targeting" members won't suddenly change their mind, instead it will likely add to their growing disillusionment.

The Church has spent a lot of money replacing the temple movies, twice in the last 5 years. Sterling Van Wagenen produced them, so when it became public that the Church had hired a child Molester to produce the temple videos, they had to go. https://truthandtransparency.org/news/2019/2/4/director-of-mormon-temple-videos-and-sundance-festival-co-founder-admits-to-child-molestation-in-early-90s

Based on 37 congregations and 15,500 claimed members, the average congregation size would be circa 420 people. The average attendance is actually less than 100 people per congregation. The article is simply an attempt to put lipstick on a pig.
