you don't owe the bishop or anyone an explanation or ANY form of follow up discussion or interview whatsoever. You can avoid talking to him (being interrogated by him) by sending him an email (or a letter) stating you have withdrawn and do not wish to receive any further up contact or visitation in any way. (This would cover you legally if he ignores this request, because you've stated in

Never a dull moment. Except 3 hours on a Sunday morning. Then it's boring as watching paint dry.

coffee is indeed awesome. I testify that the LDS Church can not possibly be the true church because it bans members from drinking coffee. No religion in its right mind should ban such a sweet delicious beverage. Yes Im not sure what DH will think of a 16 year old drinking coffee. When I was a teenager, I became addicted to Milo. Milo is like Ovaltine (or some other similar substance).

Thanks for clarifying. I heard this saying when I was young, and now you've made me remember it. In Aus, we generally say "half mast" (but that's for flags on poles in general, not flags on a ship). well done.

A dangerous combo of power, persuasion, charm, love of metaphysical mystery (money-digging, theology, pseudo-history, imagination, freemasonry, etc) as well.

Unlike the Catholics (i think), the church is separate from the family, so you can attack the church without your family necessarily turning on you. But in Mormonism, the Church IS the family, and the family is the Church (eg: a husband/ father 'presides' over his family, families are sealed in temple, etc). So to attack the Church means to be attacking the family. (Others may have a

I think there's should be a decent big budget Hollywood movie on the life of Joseph Smith (The non-sanitised, non Church approved story). Not to make the church attractive - quite the opposite- i think it was draw more peopel away from the church (or at least ask the intelligent, provoking questions). C'mon, think about it: a bullshit story told by a 14 year old, "gold plates" nobod

good call on the Kevin Coster reference. I would have said 'Owen Wilson' but the point still stands. (Look: here's a picture of Jesus of Nazareth, from Galilee in Judea... really? But he looks so WHITE!) Almost like a poster child for the Aryans in Nazi Germany: pale white skin, blue eyes, blonde hair.... sure, that's exactly how a Middle Eastern, Palestinian Jewish man looks!!! >

Thanks mate, that's helpful. cheers (i assume dog-catchers mean the same thing here, as in a 'person who catches dogs') if that's the case, then yes we have dogcatchers in Australia. And thus your point makes even further sense.

https://www.lds.org/ensign/1991/01/of-the-house-of-israel?lang=eng Just read this one. (gets interesting about halfway through). "... Joseph Smith was of the house of Israel so far as his family or blood lines were concerned, but he came from a Gentile nation and thus might also be considered a Gentile in the political or geographical sense"... umm... really?

not sure where that scripture is. Jesus mentions the elect in Matt 24, but says "if that were possible" (I don't know what this means). Paul endures everything 'for the sake of the elect' in 2 Tim 2. In a couple of other places (not many), the elect are referred to, but not sure about them 'falling'. I could be wrong, but someone else might chime in on this.

correct. Deborah (Judges 5), however she DID deliberate amongst legal matters within israel and made some kid of judicial/ authoritative decisions. The "judge" (i.e: savior figure) is actually Jael - the woman who runs the tentpeg through the dude's head. (the flannelgraph picture they did NOT show in Sunday school!). But true, this is a rare occasion. And I was wondering my

i realise that the LDS church didn't allow people with dark skin to recieve the priesthood until late in the piece. But I just find it so disturbing that all the presidents/prophets today are white guys. Surely since the 'ban' was lifted, they'd make a change and make senior leadership multi ethnic. They may have amongst the leadership of the different 70s... im not sure, i haven't ch

Whatever you're going through at the moment, just remember there's good people out there who'll give you support and help and encouragement whenever you need it. Give a friend a call hello, or a hug. Send someone an encouraging card or email, give a trusted friend a little thankyou gift. Don't be an asshole. Life's too short. Find someone who loves you for you, love them back, and just be

I never understood why non LDS are called 'Gentiles'. I know Smith started it and that language has oncintued even to today in the church. But actually, the word 'gentile' or 'gentiles' (Heb: 'goyim') is used in the Old Testament to mean the non-Jewish surrounding nations. So unless you're a circumcised Jew (or married to one), you are a 'goy' or 'goyim' - Gentile/ Gentiles. In the new Te

That's a good point. Coupled with a 'persecution complex' embedded in their history, which kind of continues in the way they see everything as either 'anti-Mormon' or 'Church approved', the 'righteous' vs the 'unrighteous', Church vs Gentile, etc... Very "us" versus "Them", polarised thinking.
