BILLIONS. WTF?! That’s rather a lot of money. I can barely grasp the concept of one billion - a THOUSAND million. Almost makes my brain implode.

Provo temple to be renamed Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple. From now on I think I’ll be referring to it as “The temple formally known as Provo”. ~~~ Source: KSL.COM Church of Jesus Christ announces name change for Provo temple Feb 20, 2024, 3:54 PM BY EMILY ASHCRAFT, KSL.COM SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Tuesday that the temple

Congratulations on your decision to be a life coach, applesauce, that’s an interesting niche and I wish you well. I’m a certified mindset and life coach and I considered including leaving and recovering from Mormonism in my coaching offer but instead am focusing on overcoming self-doubt and increasing clarity, courage and confidence. I totally understand people who are doubtful of life

Hi Cricket Thank you for asking! I’m Steve‘s wife. We’re practically newlyweds though, we married in March 2020. One of his sisters and I were missionary companions in England in 1985 and she and I have remained best friends since then. I’d been married before, as had Steve, and his sister introduced us in 2008 after we’d both been divorced. I have a feeling she was trying t

Patrick was baptised into the ward I attended in London. He was one of the nicest people you could wish to meet… and so handsome. I remember him as being an utter gentleman, very sincere, smart, well educated. At a guess I’d say he was aristocracy/upper class or at the very least from a wealthy family. I haven’t read the announcement closely but it mentions he attended boarding school w

So his mission wasn’t all bad then if it helped him find his way out :) Some of the mission covers some really beautiful parts of England, I hope he enjoyed some of it!

I guess my most significant missionary tale is that I married one of my companions’ brothers! PS And I utterly adored my mission president and his wife. I still do, I feel very fortunate to have had them. England Leeds January 1985 to August 1986

I was pretty stressed about being 30, I hear you. Now I’m in my 60s. I relatively recently learnt human brains don’t even fully develop until we’re 25. Our 20s are kind of the beginning, where we start to figure life out. Then it gets better. I’m happier now than ever. I know me, I like me, life is good… and if life ever isn’t good I know I can handle it. At 30, life

I love my one cup of coffee every morning. Occasionally I throw caution to the wind and have a second but I don’t want to over do it and lose the magical effect that the one cup has :) I’ll either have drip coffee (Folgers) with half and half, or a latte from my Nespresso machine. The latter was an indulgence to buy and was inspired by GayRM, my best friend in London, he used to post on Rf

I think it’s great they were able to help you, I’m glad you asked. If any future missionaries become pushy I’m sure you’ll be kind but reiterate what you said to these about no proselytising. Sounds like a win win - you received help and they had a nice person to do stuff for. If it were me I’d give them some money, maybe $20 to go get hamburgers. And to answer your question…

Thank you Kentish, I was just thinking a few minutes before I read your post that I must remember to wear my poppy today and every day for the next week or so. There’s a beautiful British memorial service held in the Mesa Cemetery, here in Arizona, every Remembrance Sunday to remember and honour 23 Royal Air Force cadet pilots from the No. 4 British Flying Training School lost their lives wh

A post from Heartless reminded me that leaving the church many years ago significantly improved my christmas cakes! As a devout TBM I’d make the occasional fruit cake but I’d never add alcohol. But now I soak raisins in brandy overnight, the day before I bake the cake. And I pour brandy over it when it’s still warm from the oven and then every two weeks, until I marzipan and ice

I’ll be baking our Christmas cake this weekend! And I’ll be pouring 2 tablespoons of brandy over it when it’s still warm from the oven and then every two weeks, until I marzipan and ice it the week before Christmas.

Was so nice to see the temperature in Celsius! I’ve lived in Arizona for three and a half years and, as a Brit, I’m so far sticking to my resolve to not go back 50 years to Fahrenheit. It’s a high of 42°C today by the way :) https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-that-use-fahrenheit

I was so touched by the warmth of welcome from Dagny and Summer yesterday, thank you. I’ll try to post a bit more often. I mainly wanted to tell you, in case it’s of interest, that GayRM and I still best friends. We connected on RfM in 2005 and met for the first time IRL on 11 December that year at an exmo meet-up he arranged. I’ll never forget the date because it was the anniversary of

When I read the quote below on FB a moment ago it reminded me of the early days (months) after leaving the church. I didn’t have many opinions of my own. For most of my time in the church, when anyone asked for my personal opinion I would often begin my reply with “Well, my church teaches…”. I recall one particular time at work, soon after my departure from mormonism, when my colleague

Thanks for your replies and good ideas but alas I left my event organising days behind me when I left relief society! If anyone planned anything near us (Arizona or Utah in particular) I’d do my best to attend though :)

Thanks Summer, I’ve not been on the board very much in recent years and am way behind on what’s happening (or not happening!). I always wanted to go but never made it there from the UK, my trips stateside tended to be during the spring, summer or Christmas. Now I live in Arizona and was thinking it’d be good to go if they were still happening. Oh well :)

A friend at the singles ward in London, way back in the 90s, knew Anne Perry and spoke highly of her. I on the other hand was mortified he was such good friends with a convicted murderer and couldn’t get my head round it. Not that I was particularly invested in judging her I just found it an odd concept to be friends with a murderer. Anyway, because of that I’ve always had a minor inte

If I have any cash on me, I give them some money and tell them I know how hard it can be as a missionary and to go get hamburgers or ice cream on me. The missionaries faces always light up. I’ve done this for years. I always tell them I left the church but I remember my mission fondly and still love the people I met on my mission and my companions. GayRM (one of my best friends, he use

I was so pleased UK. OK., who I’d met at an Exmo meet-up in the UK, said hello on another thread and it made me think of all the lovely Exmos and fun meet-ups we had over the years. We met up in London quite a few times, plus Birmingham, Glasgow and I’ve a feeling a couple of other places too that I’ve forgotten. Please say hello here and share your IRL name if you feel comfortable. P

We used to have some great meet-ups in the UK. I met GayRM (he used to post on here years ago) at my first one in December 2005 and he’s still my Gay Best Friend. We’ve been through so much together and shared a flat in London for a year or so. I’ll always be grateful to you on this board for how much you helped me when I first left the church. And meeting GayRM was life changin
