There are lots of other places to take your daughter on Sundays where she can wear a pretty dress and be with other kids. Doesn't even have to be a church... ;)

You are prolly right about the cost of running a "church", Church Enemy. But LDSInc. is so much more than a so-called church. It is a huge properties management corporation. And right now, they are holding a lot of toxic, wasting assets, the future of which is very much in doubt. Posters here on rfm claim LDSInc., like many other institutional investors and banks, are holding investm

NB, a lot of those active members are under 20 years old, and would not prolly have a recommend in any case. So, adults only. :) But the youths can do baptisms, so the temple is really really needed, m'kay?

Working in the church, and also working for church institutions, showed me that Mos have no special divine spirit among them. Major errors on the part of DW and priesthood leaders showed me there was no Holy Spirit or divine discernment among them. Violations of covenants and casual dismissal of doctrines when "convenient", showed me the emptiness and spiritual bankruptcy of the "s

Thanks for the heads up on the Nazarenes, kentish. I'll double check with DW, altho she is out of state and not always available right now. Her parents weren't full Nazarenes, but her Grandparents were. Perhaps I have misunderstood, or perhaps they were members of the Nazarenes for the missionary opportunity. The Nazarenes had a well-developed missionary program. I will report soon with any neede

no LS, your words are not stupid and offensive because they differ from tiff's. They are stupid and offensive because you are stating your beliefs as if they are somehow eternally true for all of us. This is your belief, and you are entitled to it. But you are not entitled to say that tiff's (or anyone's) life or beliefs are somehow a "tragedy" because she is different from you, or is

Oh, you're going to qualify that with an "on Earth". Not what you said the first time, "Be perfect or Bust", that was never the intent of the LDS religion". Don't you agree that the works and efforts to become perfect asap (and all the guilt tripping that goes along with that) are the primary driving forces among earthly LDS members? And please, don't quote the RS manu

You may want to discuss this scene further with DH, until you are in some agreement, and have a mutual plan for your kids and family. But yeah, if you don't do something, they will keep coming.

This is such a huge joke. I've helped clean a temple after Sat. sessions, but a chapel, on a Sunday? So funny... yuk yuk, stupid cult...

DW's Nazarene family believed that unless you were baptized, you burned in hell forever. Yes, even those who never heard the word. That's why they took missionary work in China etc. so very seriously.

I agree, Mak. LDS are driven by fear, much more than they are lifted by hope.

Hey, it is written in Paul's letters, in the NT. Something about the shame of a woman with an uncovered head in church, women must cover their heads in church. Thanks, Paul! How ya gonna argue with GOD ("author" of the infallible "Bible"), AND an apostle of Gawd?

DNA says: "Now that you know how your dad really feels, you have to get a new set of expectations that match the new reality. Getting used to the new expectation will suck, but can be done in a workable way." For myself, the only expectation that matches all the realities I have known, and all those I can imagine, is--no expectations whatsoever. All expectations are doomed to b

Yes SOT, you are right!! but then, sadly, in their efforts to keep all God's commands, Adam and Eve started all the incest and genetic inbreeding, with Adam and Eve breeding with their own kids, and the kids breeding with each other... It finally caught up to them, and they started having mutant GAY kids, and hermaphrodites too. Now we're stuck with them. Why did God do this to us, with

A lot of the talk by mishies about "BYU researchers" is just rumors they have heard from other mishies. Their reports of BYU profs who have "found the magical evidences", or who have "proven the anti lies false", are usually not related to anything in print. It's just LDS word of mouth folklore in the main.

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if all the Bible folks could have a "great basin" somewhere, where they could immerse themselves in their Bible lifestyles completely, and enjoy their little utopias ruled by the great Christ. Kinda like BY and the FLDS types in Utah heheh... But I would quibble with "disband the military". I don't think any Christian civilization has ever gone

From my very wide reading about Lennon's last few years in NY city, I find Lennon and his biographers agreeing that Lennon was very much at peace with himself at the end. Perhaps you shopudldo some more reading on this topic, Johnny Canuck. Marylin Monroe is a tragic figure, I grant you. Is it possible your concept of "saint" is culture-bound, for you? The guilt and shame belong to your family members, not to you. They are projecting their fears at you, trying to infect you. You do not have to allow that to happen. You can love and value them, without submitting to their hyper-emotional psychodramas.
