I am not sure why there is a problem with the $5 billion number. The church new media source (KSL) reported the chamber of commerce number and didn't qualify it. Sorry to threadjack. But my original mormon ancestor was James Allred. He was baptized at about the age of 48 within a year or two of the church's founding. I am number 8 down the line from him, all mormons. The number of generations all depends upon how quickly people have kids. If you run through the oldest kid in each generation, they add up fairly quickly.
