He taught institute classes back in the '80s in Cambridge MA. He divorced Cindy Barlow, who was gorgeous by the way, and lost his position as institute instructor. Apparently, divorcees are not allowed to teach. He asked if they could make an exception, but they declined. No exceptions. I'd like to know what ever happened to him. He was unable to deal with the church's historical issues. He s

Do you think the COVID pandemic is a tipping point for faithful members? Will they show up for a sit down at year's end to catch-up on tithing as usual? I think the church will see a huge decrease in the amount of tithing that rolls in this year. People are suffering physically, financially and spiritually, and may realize that keeping their money is vital to their own survival. At least

The rapid advancement of technology in the last twenty years has brought with it instant and near-total access to information about everything and everybody. These days, when people need information, they go to the internet, a source that giveth to everyone liberally and upbraideth not. So, you should be able to get the lowdown on any company, organization, church, club or anyone so you can do bu

Don't seek anyone's approval. Flirt with their disapproval, and feel that. Don't agree with everything. It's OK to blaze your own path. No one may follow you. And that is good.

Live life freely. You don't need to follow anyone. You are totally free. You don't have to do a damn thing. You are everything and everything is you.

Corruption is not the exception, it's the rule. After I realized this I felt better. We're human. We're not perfect

We’re told that God does not perform miracles needlessly, and that ‘it is a wicked and an adulterous generation that seeks for a sign.’ When Joseph’s family and friends asked for a glimpse of the plates that he’d claimed to have uncovered, he told them God would strike dead any person who glimpsed them. So, presumably, they remained in a box wrapped in a tablecloth to prevent casualt

Extricate yourself SLOWLY. Don't defend your position. Let them defend theirs and walk away. Go one step at a time. Learn as much as possible. Know what you're talking about. Don't get angry.

The number one fact is that the golden plates were imaginary. There never were any physical golden plates. Joseph Smith never dug up anything of value. Though he tried. Look into it and you'll find the truth.

I agree with forbiddencokedrinker. You've made it clear how frustrating it is. So why bother? Just dissapear. Screw'em. They won't even ask where you are, or why you stopped coming. Leaving the church can be scary at first, but the feelings of total freedom and liberation kick in right away. You don't have to give excuses. TBMs would prefer you to argue about their church than just be indi

I'm trying to clear out the last vestiges of my membership in the Mormon church. I've called Deseret book five times in six months and requested to be taken off the mailing list. Each time a very nice woman assured me I was off the list. I have continued to receive big glossy mailers. The last time (before today) I refused to accept it. Wrote RETURN TO SENDER on the front. I still get stuff

Religions have one central message, not usually stated, but resembling the following: ‘You need to improve, and you need us to help you; You’re no good as you are; Do what we say and you’ll have great reward; disobey and you go to hell.’ This seems to me to be the opposite of what church is supposed to be. Isn’t it about love, forgiveness, tolerance? If churches were really tolerant, th

What were you doing in stake conference? If you're resigned, than just say no to those who EXPECT you to go to church. Don't send them mixed signals. Resigned means you're gone.

Thomas Monson is an unrepentant LIAR. Get down on your knees Thomas and beg God for forgiveness for perpetuating lies and stealing time and money from innocent people. Boyd K. Packer, you are A BULLY. Pray that almighty God has enough mercy to spare you the justice you so deserve. The 'golden plates' were purely imaginary. They KNOW this fact. The mormon church is based on IMAGINARY

The General Authorities are all unrepentant LIARS. They will never admit the whole thing is a fraud. Just get away from them. Ignore them. Jensen is an accomplished liar, changing the subject, bobbing and weaving. Monson is so out of touch he is, for all intent and purposes, INSANE. The golden plate were purely imaginary Thomas. Get down on your knees and beg for forgiveness for all the harm y

(First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve meeting minutes) Monson: Brethren, You have been called here tonight that we may discuss a matter of the gravest concern to me. Brethren, I have had a dream, a most disturbing dream. In this dream I saw, in glorious color, brother Glenn Beck piloting a speeding locomotive, leaning out of the window, a fey smile on his face, as he sped past me care

To a true believing mormon, tithe paying is not optional. It is required of all faithful members of the Lord’s true church— the only ‘true’ church on the face of the Earth. You are to pay it gladly with a heart overflowing with gratitude— nothing less. Even if you follow every commandment, sacrifice all of your time, read the scriptures, parrot church authorities, clean the chapel, fait
