So it's a normal way to feel, nurshandstrengthen? I'm glad you told me that. It makes me feel better.

Thanks, releve. I know that about "blessings" but sometimes my mormon indoctrinated brain likes to rear its ugly head now and again and I have to feed it more cynicism to shut it up.

Thank you, Erik K. I just got off the phone with my mom and informed her that I did it so that she would be the first to know about it. I'm so glad that she's not like some moms that I've read about on here. Time has changed her heart to be more accepting of me and my ways. Last week she even admitted to me that she doesn't believe that heaven is the way that most mormons claim that it is. Maybe

I was just thinking this same thing yesterday as I took some more friends and family off the timeline on Facebook because they had to mention how blessed they were to be a member of the "one true church" and wanted to share the open house of the new Gilbert temple. Ugh! I can't say ANYTHING about my disbelief, but they can d*&% sure say WHATEVER they want to me. It makes me so mad.

and I have to say I'm filled with a lot of emotions. First, I'm a little scared about people finding out because it may affect me getting work in this town. I'm a former teacher (I resigned after ten years because I'm burnt out) and am trying to find another job, but no one is hiring. While trying to find work, I am subbing for the district I last taught at and almost every person is a mormon--in

I was a very good mormon in my early years, but two years at girl's camp and the constant bullying from the mormon kids at school didn't sit right with me. At 15 1/2 I started to skip YW classes to get away from these "perfect teenagers" who I knew were having sex with their boyfriends/girlfriends and partying but looked down on my family--even though my family had settled my hometow

I left Mormonism long ago, but have never resigned. I now (thanks to RfM) am thinking about FINALLY sending in my letter--at least it's typed up. I just have to print it. Anywho, I come here because I have found what I have been missing ever since I came out to my TBM friends about my disbelief--other disbelievers who aren't afraid to tell it like it is without the "you know one day you'll c

I just had this same conversation with my dad. He didn't like the fact that I brought up that Mormons still believe in polygamy in the celestial kingdom. My dad is 70 years old. He's been a Mormon his WHOLE life and he's never thought of it like that. I hope I put a spark into his head. Unfortunately, I think the spark will die.

A TBM friend of mine mentioned to me that, "even though it is kind of lame, it should be a requirement for all young men and women to watch Saturday's Warrior since it would make them even more inspired to do what is right". Seriously, that movie was creepy! The only character I really ever connected with was the covert. I was on his side to NOT join the church because those missionari

I got lovebombed a few weeks ago by--what I later found out were--the YW leaders. One of them is a first cousin, one of them works at the school I work for (I teach her kids--how awkward), and one of them I have never seen before but was later told was the bishop's wife. It was in the middle of the day and I was taking a nap, when someone started knocking on my door. So, there I was with my h

"I tried to explain to her how this "friend" has been influenced and is probably thinking she is doing a great thing by reaching out "finally"." Those are great words of advise for your daughter and are very much true. When I was still in college, my best friend decided that she needed to go on a mission. Just like your daughter's friend, she sent me a letter

I don't know how many people go to my home ward over here (since I haven't been to church in about 20 years and it's been 12 years since I last lived in my hometown), but I do know that two more wards have been added since I left. It seems that every 10 years or so, the lines get redrawn and people are forced to move into different wards (begrudgingly). In fact, about a year ago my FB page was

Two weeks ago the RS presidency randomly showed up on my doorstep. I have been living back in my hometown for about a year and was hoping that my records hadn't made it over here yet. Later on that day, I went to my parents' house (both TBM) and proceeded to vent about this visit (my parents know that I don't believe in the church, so they tend to not bring up religion around me anymore). I have found that to be true for my mother who is still a TBM. My mom has been disabled for about 3 years now and I can count on one hand how many church "friends" have stopped by to see if she needs anything. When she was the pianist and a regular church goer though, she was told how special she was and had lots of friends who would stop by just to say hello.
