Just wondering when people started using the word "moron" to describe an intellectually slow person. Because of course not only is the word "Mormon" one letter away from being "moron," but in the BOM there even is a character named "Moron." The pronunciation guide claims that it's pronounced "MOR en."

Yes, low self esteem. Also, tscc puts so much emphasis on "showing gratitude," so she likely has that bug in her too.

The frustrating part about being like your daughter is that there is an amazing light, but no one else "gets" it, so it's very lonely living in that light. It's truly maddening. I used to read scriptures three hours a day.

But I'm not going back to tscc because after 16 years I learned that it's feigned wholesomeness & positivity. Maybe I'll try the Universalist Unitarians. I've heard good things about them. Because I spend so much time at the gym, working there, the music they play is 90% dreadful and negative & gets stuck in my head. I miss the days when I was full of hymns & light. Must find it

This still tears me apart because it is a very powerful book.the thing I found most frustrating is that no one else was reading it. If everyone was reading it, how different the world would be! In a positive way! I'm not kidding. But the world is not that way, and for many many reasons I gave up on tscc. Reasons not excluding condtradictory messages, distorted doctrines, aaaggh.

I think it's adaptive. Few if any children know or care about religion until it's crammed down their throats. Spirituality on the other hand is common among all. Theism isn't necessary in spirituality.

Yes! "We're going to be parents" is much more accurate and less stomach-churning. Tangent, another thing that makes my stomach churn is people telling everyone that they're "trying to have a baby." Ugh, TMI the image that unavoidably puts into people's minds.

Hahaha but seriously, why did Jesus call Joseph Father? Or is Jesus asking if Joseph called his father? Jesus isn't father. He's son. Whatever the case I am playfully trying to figure it out cuz jokes are funnier when they make sense.

OP, if you're being completely honest in this post, I encourage you to use the VA Hospital and let it become a second home to you. Someone else here said that the Texas VA hospital is awful but I can't vouch for that, as all I know is the Washington DC VA Medical Center which is STATE OF THE ART and the staff has been trained to treat every patient like royalty.

After being duped by Mormonism I find it hard to think much about Jesus anymore. Christianity requires just as much self-daily-constant brainwashing, reminders, meetings with other believers to keep up the charade, trying to make sense out of contradictory bible passages, trying to interpret & justify & defend it all. Freaking exhausting.

Good for you, kindly, honestly telling those young guys the real truth, down to earth. Hopefully it got through to them at least a little bit. I had a couple similar experiences this summer, ran into the mishies out & about town and I was sincerely happy to see them so I initiated conversation. When they went into their programmed spiel about inviting me to church I explained to them matte

Yes, as desertwoman highlighted, 6 partners before the age of 40 is AVERAGE. So as OP & Greyfort as examples, some people have had 12, some have had zero. Voila! 6 is inbetween. I am not promiscuous, but numbers show that I've had 13 partners before the age of 40. Some exploring is sometimes required in one way or another to undo the mormon guilt brainwashing.

Because their worldview that they've been taught to believe on faith with no rational way to explain that worldview, is being challenged, and they have no rational way to respond other than assuming that the other party is one of Satan's minions. So Mormon person becomes hostile (indignant) when put head-to-head against one of Satan's minions.

Yes, thewhyalumnus, very well said! I remember being a mo housewife feeling one part inspired by the heartsell images, and one part horribly depressed and inadequate. Only I didn't know at the time that "heartsell" was a thing that was fabricated, and impossible to make a reality, try as I did.

True, if they're receiving a "living allowance" they would have reason to feign a testimony...but those women at the podium each Gen Conference do seem so passionate & sincere that I really think they believe. Also, there's quite a high turnover of auxiliary leaders as compared to the men who stay in the general presidencies for a lifetime. Ever seen a woman in a gen auxiliary presi

What is Em-Sam? I'm just curious, can't figure it out. I have no intention to look into getting it prescribed, I just have never heard of it.
