My bishop sent me a copy of this letter a few years ago. I wanted to point by point refute it, but I just let it go. It wasn't worth the effort.

If it weren't for him appearing in the flesh to the boy Joseph in 1820 we wouldn't have any solid historical proof at all. What a blessing.

I sucked at Kaisha dendo. We tried it a little and it was a waste. Just like pretty much everything else we tried. I do remember a couple of elders in one of the districts I was in managing to do a FHE for a businessman's family. They turned out to be Yakuza. That was exciting.

Welcome to Missionary Chat. Thank you for your interest in talking to a missionary from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The purpose of Mormon.org chat is to answer basic questions about the church and its beliefs and to provide opportunities to learn more. Before we begin, will you share a little about what brought you to chat with us? A missionary will be with you short

Good points. It is like making a bad stock investment. You don't want to admit it and just hang on to the stock hoping that it will rebound rather than keep on tanking. Human nature. With that much invested, you can't let go.

Well if I were the prophet, I'd try putting it in a baseball cap and see if I could see anything. Maybe a Dodger baseball cap.

Does Tommy sleep with the Seer Stone? Where is it now? He needs to use it from time to time so we can be aware of earthquakes, wars, etc.

It is kind of like saying "If the Bible is true, then Catholicism is true." Or, "If the Bible is true then the Methodist faith is true." It doesn't follow. There are lots of wacky sects that believe in the Book of Mormon.

How could you ever in a million years do this job? Seriously. If you have to stay in and do something, tell them you will be Sunday School president or something lame like that where you don't have to lie so much. Just my 2 cents.

In the ward I last attended I would estimate 80% of the youth put in for a mission. Just before I left it did seem to drop to something like 50% or so. Some wards put a lot of pressure on the kids and if it is the thing to do (like if you live in parts of Utah or Idaho) probably 80% + try to go. Overall in the church I would guess it is 50-60% but that is only a guess. Temple attendance is som

My SP showed up unannounced at my house months ago. Since then no one else has tried to rescue me. The visit was mostly niceties, talking around the elephant in the room, etc. He didn't dare just come right out and ask me why I don't go, I'm pretty sure he knows I don't believe. They don't have an answer for that one.

Clerks seem to get a bit jaded with time don't they? When I served as financial clerk, the clerk who was called to audit me had huge attitude problems. He showed up and bitched and moaned the whole time about what a waste of time it all was and he even started ripping on the church in general, the bureaucracy, etc. At one point he blurted out half-jokingly that he probably should leave the chu

Mine expired 2 years ago. The Exec Sec asked me if I wanted to bother with a temple interview to get it renewed. I said "Of course not." He understood I was done.

If Packer took over I doubt if he would last much longer than Hunter did. And I really doubt that it would affect the TBMs one iota.

Why is it that I knew it was wrong when I was a teenager but the Lord's anointed, his very apostles and prophets (so-called) were just as backwards and ignorant as the worst bigots in society? The Lord's only true and living church? Riiiiight.

Yeah we lived in that apartment next to the church for awhile. I was there during Yamada's tenure. They were trying to create a Stake in Fukuoka about the time I left. I don't think much has happened growth-wise in all these years and the last I heard the Okinawa mission was folded back into another mission. They might still have a Stake in Okinawa though.

But FIRST, addressing Simone Stigmata: We were in Okinawa from 1975 to 1980, five whole years. Did we know you there? No. I was a missionary in Fukuoka, Japan. About 6 months of that were in Okinawa (this was in 1978 when the PH ban was lifted). I spent some time in Futenma and some time in Naha. We were so busy trying to proselyte the Japanese we didn't have much contact with the enlisted m
