When was the mormon church still promoting/publishing the JofD? Seems to me in the late 60s early 70s super-TBMs were reading it, and it was totally accepted as doctrine. This was the same time period that Mormon Doctrine was published/relied on.

When I was in the church in the 1970s caffeinated soda was in fact very much frowned upon and some bishops would not issue temple recommends to those who indulged. It was also totally not present on the BYU campus to my knowledge. Imagine my surprise, after totally ignoring the church for 35+ years, that Monson actually drinks the stuff.
